Deadpool 2 Casts Hunt for the Wilderpeople Star Julian Dennison

New Zealand might only be a nation of 4.5m people, but they are starting to make a real mark on Hollywood. With filmmaker Taika Waititi taking the reigns for the upcoming Chris Hemsworth blockbuster Thor: Ragnarok, the director took time out of his schedule to delight in the casting of one of his young Hunt for the Wilderpeople star for Deadpool 2.

14-year old Julian Dennison played Ricky in the 2016 action comedy. As the small budget domestic product would go onto great acclaim at the box office and with critics. Now he is pictured piggy-back riding on Ryan Reynolds in full Merc with the Mouth gear on top a building for the 2018 romp, a scenario that looks as ridiculous as it is hilarious.

The inspiration for this image would derive from none other than Star Wars: The Last Jedi. One infamous still sees Mark Hamill riding Daisy Ridley on her back as he enthusiastically points away in the distance.

This is mimicked for Deadpool 2 by Dennison, although details of his character are not yet known. Waititi expressed his delight on social media, unable to comprehend how his teenage colleague has risen up the ranks so quickly.

"Never in my wilderpeoplest dreams would I have imagined this picture existing," the director posted. "But.... Yessss. @JulianDennison @VancityReynolds #SkuxLife."

Using the Skux Life line that was a Kiwi take on Thug Life for the picture Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Dennison will join the likes of Jack Kesy, TJ Miller, Morena Baccarin, Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz and Reynolds for the sequel. Production began in June and will wrap in time for a June 1, 2018 release.

Not to be outdone on the Instagram front, Brolin gave his own update as he takes on the part of Cable. Overcoming some strong competition as writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick mulled over Kyle Chandler, Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, Brad Pitt, David Harbour and others, the action star illustrated a half blue face that will be complete with scars and futuristic weaponry.

"Insanity on the brink," Brolin wrote. "Face is morphing into something machine, fierce, hair sliced, arm machined, bulged. Where is Deadpool?!? Looking. Looking. All I got are these two... molding me, prodding, turning me into something hard. @bcorso #mikesmithson #deadpool #ivebeencabled #cableswole @weprevail."
