Shane Black Shows Off Rebooted Predator Cast, Says “PG-13 is for Pussies”

It is clear to deduce from director Shane Black that his reboot of The Predator is in full production mode. Posting a brand new image online this week, the Iron Man 3 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang filmmaker showcased the main players kitted out in their army gear.

From Logan star Boyd Holbrook to Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes and 10-year old youngster Jacob Tremblay, the crew looked prepped for battle as they take on the extraterrestrial. A creature who has been wrecking havoc on the big screen for three decades. Starting off with the classic 1987 installment Predator, the franchise has prolonged to include Predator 2, Alien vs. PredatorAliens vs. Predator: Requiem and 2010's Predators.

Don't Bring The Kids To This One

Hitting up his own Twitter feed, Black posted a fresh image of the villain next to the number 4 proclaiming that "Monday... the hunt is on." This was followed by a statement that requires no extra analytics or analysis to outline exactly what the director is getting at. Deriding the notion that a film of this standing does not deserve to go full blast on the blood and gore.

"And, just to be clear... PG-13 is for pussies. Spines bleed... a lot."

R rated movies are enjoying something of a renaissance in recent years, taking the lead from Marvel's Deadpool to push forward with the likes of Logan and John Wick: Chapter 2. Fans would be up in arms were The Predator cut down to a PG-13 rating and thankfully for our sake, Black was having none of it.

Fox Not Opting For A Fighter To Take The Lead

At the end of last month, an unusual rumor was circulating in Hollywood that the leading part that would eventually go to Holbrook would be taken by none other than UFC star Conor McGregor. The 28-year old Irishman is an icon of the MMA scene. And, whilst his proposed encounter with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is having the fighting world talking, Black quickly quashed this story out of hand.

"CONOR McGREGOR: great guy, nice as can be -- NOT, however, offered the male lead. Boyd Holbrook holds that distinction. Just sayin'."

20th Century Fox might have given the green light to a small cameo part, but never would they go as far as to give someone with McGregor's inexperience in the front role in a major action blockbuster like this. Since the original, the franchise has struggled to gain traction and live up to the hype, a task that Black has to handle with the best talent possible.
