Rock Teases Partnership with IT Director Andres Muschietti For Black Adam

With over 93m Instagram followers, anything that Dwayne Johnson posts will garner substantial views. Yet one of his most recent snaps would be a repost of a scene from IT, the Andres Muschietti reboot that casts Swede Bill Skarsgard in the central role.

The Rock has maintained a healthy working relationship with Warner Brothers for an extended period of his Hollywood career. And, as he was praising the filmmaker, actor and studio for their collaborative efforts, he indicated that a team up featuring himself and the Argentine is just around the corner. Given his upcoming commitment to the role of Black Adam in the DCEU, this could very well be a scenario that plays out.

Rock Solid as Johnson Heaps Love on IT's Director

🎈 I saw an early screening of IT a few months ago and it instantly became one of my all time favorites. Easily TOP 10 all time. Not only does it redefine the horror genre, but it's so layered, smart and brilliantly scary. Congrats to the awesome young cast aka The Losers Club for killing their performances. To Bill Skarsgard for delivering an iconic performance as Pennywise. And to the entire crew and my good buds at Warner Bros/New Line. And most of all congrats to director, Andy Muschietti for making such a defining film. You knocked it outta the f*cking park! Great talking with you man and we're gonna have some fun working together down the road. As a huge fan of the horror genre, this one's special. Have you fully recovered @simonegjohnson? 😉 #IT Congrats David Katzenberg you handsome MF!

Spreading the social media love to all in sundry, it was one line in particular that gave a not-so-subtle hint of a future collaboration. Warner Brothers have a habit of utilizing in-house filmmakers and with a big box office take expected upon the September 8 release of IT, there is the opportunity to cash in for a 2019 installment of Black Adam.

Dwayne Made to Wait as Former WWE Foe Threatens To Fast Track DC Role

Shazam Black Adam Dwayne Johnson

Despite Johnson's ongoing links, talks and negotiations to the DC anti-hero, it appears as though his former WWE colleague John Cena could swoop in to be part of the superhero universe before he is. The Trainwreck and Sisters star is reported to be in a race of two between himself and 29-year old English television star Joshua Sasse for the role of Shazam! - a title that has been fast tracked.

This was the official synopsis according to That Hashtag Show:

"Based on the DC Comics character Shazam! Billy Batson becomes Captain Marvel, the world's mightiest mortal, when he says the magic word 'Shazam!' The name is an acronym for six gods and heroes of the ancient world as well as their attributes. The wisdom of Solomon, strength of Hercules, stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, courage of Achilles and speed of Mercury."
