Marvel’s New Mutants Showcase Set Photos After Production Wrap

New Mutants is still some time away from a general release in the US (April 13, 2018), but the important part of the movie has been completed. The cast and crew wrapped filming this weekend on a blockbuster that will act as a spinoff and continuation of the X-Men world. Bringing some new characters to the big screen that have up until this juncture, remained only in comic books or the animated television series.

Taking to Instagram would be director Josh Boone and stars Blu Hunt, Maisie Williams and Henry Zaga. This title produced by Simon Kinberg will be a departure from the studio though, acting as more of a psychological horror/thriller that is apparently inspired by the works of IT and The Dark Tower creator Stephen King.

Arm-in-arm with his producing partner Knate Lee, Boone was all smiles as he held a nice cool refreshment in one hand and his filmmaker friend in the other. The feature entered pre-production in Boston back in April 2017, culminating in 18 months of intense preparation to shoot and execute a picture that is breaking new ground for a mainstream superhero flick.

With the rest of the cast round out by Anya Taylor-Joy (Illyana Rasputin/Magik), Charlie Heaton (Sam Guthrie/Cannonball) and Alice Braga (Cecilia Reyes), it would be 24-year old Brazilian Henry Zaga who provided the next offering on social media. Sporting some white sneakers covered in signatures from colleagues, it would be the image of his character Sunspot that stood out.

"Today we wrapped a very special film," he remarked. "I'm so proud of our New Mutants family and what we've achieved. It's been one of the best experiences of my life, so thanks everyone for making it an unforgettable one and for an amazing movie. #TheNewMutants #April2018 #Thatsawrap Hoje acabamos de fazer um filme muito especial. Estou muito orgulhoso da minha família Novos Mutantes e do que alcançamos. Foi uma das melhores experiências da minha vida... Agradeço a todos por torná-la inesquecível e por um filme incrível #OsNovosMutants #Abril2018."

Sun Sets On Wild Adventure For Movie Newcomers

Rather than enlisting A-list megastars with loads of cache and experience for this type of project, Boone brought aboard new talent from the small screen who could offer a fresh insight. One of which would be Blu Hunt (Danielle Moonstar/Mirage), a 22-year old whose background includes series like The Originals.

"This is a picture of me after wrapping my FIRST movie EVER," she wrote. "Exhausted, sad, and excited for the future. Bye Dani Moonstar.."

Then Game of Thrones regular Maisie Williams put forward the official logo of the movie before simply stating "Thas a wrap."
