Marvel News: Venom To Be Horror/Sci-Fi As Avengers Watch Justice League Trailer

Taking old material and developing it into something new is a skill that 43-year old filmmaker Alex Kurtzman is learning to master. This is the task that he is faced with after reinventing The Mummy with Tom Cruise. Drifting off into the extended Spider-Verse franchise with Venom.

Slated for a October 5, 2018 release date, Dante Harper from Alien: Covenant and Edge of Tomorrow fame is crafting the screenplay. And, while the key details are kept hidden from public eye, the tone of the picture is said to follow a "horror sci-fi hybrid."

MyEntertainmentWorld.com report that David Micheline's creation of the alien symbiote will have no connection to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Nor any of the MCU installments for that matter. Allowing the movie to venture into R rated territory should they wish to do so.

Marvel-DC Crossover In The YouTube World

Since the release of the official Justice League trailer this past week has dominated clicks and views online, one YouTube user has had some fun at the Marvel-DC divide. Utilizing the party scene for Avengers: Age of Ultron, DrMachakil (not a real doctor) has spliced together the 2-minute short with Tony Stark, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and the rest of the crew looking on with a mixture of curiosity and perplexity.

The brilliant edit had fun with Robert Downey Jr.'s reaction to Batman's quip that his superhero power is his cunning ability to be "rich." The irony for the most part is that Marvel has been the comfortable frontrunners at the box office. And let's not forget the opinion of the critics. But the video is good fun nonetheless.
