Ben Affleck: “I’m Gonna Direct Batman Bro, Give Me A Second!”

Ben Affleck is quickly discovering how heavy that uniform weighs on the Caped Crusader, as he sat down on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week. The 44-year old has kept himself occupied with a number of ventures. But it seems all anyone wants to know is what the hell is happening with him directing his stand alone installment The Batman?

The good news is that The Accountant star has an answer in the affirmative, but the bad news is that the actor and filmmaker might be losing a bit of patience with those DC fans who are desperate to know what is happening behind the scenes. Laughing along with the host, Affleck talked about his other project getting in the way, what is happening in the DC universe with Justice League and his reception to little brother Casey winning a major award.

Affleck Moves To Stop Rumors In Their Tracks

As Kimmel held the newly released image for Justice League showing Affleck all buffed up alongside Wonder Woman, the Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman, the discussion quickly moved to his own spinoff that will explore Batman's own story within this current framework. But were the stories about him pulling out actually true?

“I’m gonna direct the next Batman, we’re workin’ on it," proclaimed Affleck. "It’s one of those things that’s really frustrating because like with Live by Night, it took me a year and a half to write it and get it ready and I worked really hard, it’s just nobody gave a s***. No one was like ‘Where’s Live by Night?!’ But with Batman I keep getting the like, ‘Where’s the f***ing Batman?!’ and I’m like ‘Bro I’m workin’, give me a second!”

The enormous fan base that exists in the comic book world, especially online, is on par with the Star Wars fanatics as every feature teases and builds to the next. Once this confirmation is out there that there will be a "f***ing Batman," perhaps the speculation will turn to the events in the movie rather than whether Affleck will or won't direct.

Big Brother Ben Not Happy As Casey's Speech Snub

Casey Affleck in Manchester by the Sea

Attention then shifted away from the superheroes to his little brother Casey Affleck who won a Best Actor gong for his work in Manchester by the Sea, and as he took his first Golden Globe award he proceeded to thank all in sundry except for his older sibling.

"Your brother, he thanked Amazon, which is a company from which you order soap," outlined Kimmel. "He thanked Matt Damon, who's a vile person in general," Affleck joked about his friend and fellow Good Will Hunting filmmaker. "He thanked a s***load of people, Jimmy.... I was a little taken aback. That's not the kind of thing I would do. I thank people."
