The Greatest Showman Feature Trailer (2017)

Feature Trailer for The Greatest Showman.

The Greatest Showman is a bold and original musical that celebrates the birth of show business and the sense of wonder we feel when dreams come to life. Inspired by the ambition and imagination of P.T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman tells the story of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.

Some of the songs from the film come from the duo Benji Pasek and Justin Paul. They are Academy Award Winners for the songs they wrote for La La Land ("Another Day of Sun", "Someone in the Crowd", "A Lovely Night", "City of Stars (Pier)", "City of Stars", "Audition (The Fools Who Dream)"). They also wrote the song "Get Back Up Again" for the film Trolls. Here is a list of the songs they wrote for The Greatest Showman: "The Greatest Show", "A Million Dreams", "A Million Dreams (Reprise)", "Come Alive", "The Other Side", "Never Enough", "This Is Me", "Rewrite the Stars", "Tightrope", "Never Enough (Reprise)", "From Now On".

The film is Directed by Michael Gracey. This will be his first time sitting in the Director's chair!

Although the film has a first time Director, it does have a bit of a veteran in the musical word with Bill Condon as the Writer. Bill was the Director for Dreamgirls and Beauty and the Beast (live action remake). He also was the Writer for Dreamgirls and Chicago.

Not much new material here from the first trailer. We get the same backstory build up with a man striving to provide for his family and reach for the stars. We get the same tone and feel throughout the trailer. And, of course, we get the same song as the first trailer. Although there is some bits of new footage, I would have expected more out of second trailer.

I still think the story and cast of the film are it greatest strengths. Most everyone is familiar with the Ringling Bros circus and although the circus has been clouded by controversy because of the treatment of the animals over the past few years before its eventual shutting down, people should be interested in how one man started it all. And what better actor to portray P.T. Barnum than Hugh Jackman? He looks like the perfect fit and he is surrounded by a great cast. I really want to like this film, I just wish we got a better look with this trailer and the same thing again.
