When teens mysteriously develop powerful new abilities, they are declared a threat by the government and detained. Sixteen-year-old Ruby, one of the most powerful young people anyone has encountered, escapes her camp and joins a group of runaway teens seeking safe haven. Soon this newfound family realizes that, in a world in which the adults in power have betrayed them, running is not enough and they must wage a resistance, using their collective power to take back control of their future.

Based off the popular novel by author Alexandra Bracken, this installment could be the first in a trilogy.

Director Jennifer Yuh Nelson seems to be doing just fine with the learning curve, considering this is the first live-action movie she has ever done.

From the people who brought us Stranger Things AND Arrival?!? Plus it's based on a novel that almost has five stars on Amazon? Count me in.

And I don't think it was coincidence that 20th Century Fox would release the first The Darkest Minds trailer less than 24 hours after Universal Pictures released their own YA adaptation, The House with a Clock in Its Walls.

Both films are kicking things off by showcasing what look to be impressive visual effects. So game on...
