Set in post WW2 London and bereft of politics of the state, this trimmed down version takes place over a single, nightmarish evening. This compression of time further energizes the entire action by forcing the tortured prince into seeking answers to life's most profound questions with a greater sense of urgency. To live or to die, to kill or to let God above seek revenge for the ills of mankind? The house that once brought Hamlet comfort and joy, now snakes itself around him reeking of betrayal and incest. There is no peace to be found where only death and deception live. Prodded to revenge by his father's ghost, and emotionally abandoned by the queen and his beloved Ophelia, the prince's traumatic return home on the heels of his mother's hasty marriage to his father's murderer, plays out as an intimate family drama clothed in a claustrophobic panic that ultimately ends in bloody death.
