El Congo Manuel Trailer (2011)

Manuel is a Congo spirit, channeled by Charles Guelperin (Baba Funke) for the last 40 years. Manuel is not the Congo spirit's true name, but this has been the most recognized name. His true identity is only revealed to his "Horse Channeler". "Horse Channeler" is the name that Manuel uses to describe his medium, Charles.

Manuel was born at the end of the 1600's in what is today the republic of El Congo. He was born from a village king and at the early age of 15 he was trapped by slave hunters and shipped to the west coast of Africa where he was sold for the first time to white slavers en route to Cuba.

When he arrived to Cuba he was angry, scared and confused and working as a slave in the fields. He was then shipped to the sugar central of the province of Santa Clara to continue working as a slave. He tried to escape on several occasions and was caught time and time again. After each time he was harshly punished and on one occasion the tendons of his right leg were cut to try to prevent him from escaping again. Being born to become a king and a leader of his village people he could not accept a life of slavery and chains and under constant degradation and humiliation. Being sustained by his spiritual beliefs of Myombe (initiation under the rights of Ogun) he accomplished his final escape into the White Hills of the Cuban forrest.

Manuel lived to the ripe age of 127 years old and he sired over 100 children which is the true wealth of any Congo King or African Oba. Manuel disclosed to Charles, his "Horse Channeler" that Charles was in a previous incarnation one of his children. That is what began the close relationship between the two. Manuel has guided Charles spiritually and to be initiated under the rights of Obatala.

Presently the relationship of Charles and Manuel are like father and son, master and student and two inseparable friends. Through his instrument Manuel provides teachings, guidance and spiritual awakening to hundreds of people and it is through that mission he finds his personal sublime enlightenment.
