Ruby Rose and Mary Elizabeth Winstead Fight It Out For Deadpool 2 Role

The names are piling up on the studio desk as the shortlist becomes ever longer to play Domino in Deadpool 2. The hotly anticipated sequel is yet to have an official title, no less a completed screenplay or the makings of a finalized cast. But the pre-production is underway to see who will take on the position of the mercenary/mutant who is considered something of an ambiguous character within the Marvel universe.

Deadpool 2 Casting

Two more names have been thrown into contention, and they are sure to up the stakes. We have 30-year old Australian Rugby Rose, whose most notable role to date has come in the cult Netflix series Orange Is The New Black, as well as Mary Elizabeth Winstead of the Die Hard franchise fame. But if these ladies were under the impression that it was a two horse race, they would be sorely mistaken. Hopefully their agents were upfront about the competition!

Domino Role A Prized Possession As 1 of 10 Will Win Out

Sienna Miller Deadpool Domino

Director Tim Miller and his producers will be clocking in the hours overtime to narrow down the candidates. Winstead and Rose are thrown in with Lizzy Caplan from Masters of Sex. The actress was last seen on screens with Now You See Me 2, as a new cast addition. Up next is Sofia Boutella of Star Trek Beyond and Kingsman. Both films showed that she has the ability to kick a ton of ass. Halt and Catch Fire star Mackenzie Davis is insanely cute, and is going to blow up big for sci-fi thanks to The Martian and the upcoming Blade Runner 2049. Are there more? Yes.

Eve Hewson is also in contention. Fans might recognize the actress from Cinemax's The Knick, where she stars alongside Clive Owen. Stephanie Sigman, who audiences saw in Spectre, and Sylvia Hoeks out of the Netherlands. To round things out, we have Sienna Miller in contention. The actresses many credits include American Sniper and Layer Cake, to name but a few.

Domino Background Sets Up Intriguing Introduction

Domino Casting Deadpool

Viewed as something of a "frenemy" to Deadpool, Domino uses a combination of seduction and deadly skill to keep others on their toes in the Marvel universe. A lover and compatriot with the mutant Cable, a character who was teased at the conclusion of the first feature, her inclusion as a pure bad ass will spice up proceedings as Ryan Reynolds' character braces for plenty more action.

Hopefully sticking to the R-rating that garnered so much support from the public, the differential in acting styles from the 10 names listed does raise questions about Marvel's intention with Domino. If they are true to the comics, then she will be a force to be reckoned with.
