Trailer for The Circle.

A woman lands a job at a powerful tech company called the Circle, where she becomes involved with a mysterious man.

The film is based on American author David Eggers' book "The Circle" (2013). It chronicles tech worker Mae Holland as she joins a powerful Internet company which starts out as an incredibly rewarding experience, but as she works there longer things start to fall apart. It is Dave Eggers’s tenth published work of fiction. The book was an Amazon Best Book of the Month, October 2013.

Author Dave Eggers is the author of ten books, including most recently Your Fathers, Where Are They? And the Prophets, Do They Live Forever?, The Circle and A Hologram for the King, which was a finalist for the 2012 National Book Award.

Director James Ponsoldt has also directed The End of the Tour and The Spectacular Now.

You see a movie starring Tom Hank, Emma Watson and John get my attention. These are all great actors in their own right, especially Tom, and I am excited to see what they can do together. Each one of them looks like a great fit. Tom Hanks, as expected, is perfect as the overseeing CEO and I think Emma will play nicely as Mae as she goes against Bailey.

The Circle Trailer Screen Shot 2
So, the acting is on track, but what about the story? That is my main concern here. Based on the trailer and what I have heard about the book, it will be a compelling and gripping story. This all sounds good, but it has to translate to the screen and that will be up to Director James Ponsoldt to pull that off.
