Jessica Chastain Favorite To Play Beverly For IT: Chapter 2

The 2017 horror smash IT has reinvigorated mainstream audience's love affair with the genre as the title managed to reboot a miniseries that had grown a cult status since 1991. Yet director Andy Muschietti and producing partner Barbara Muschietti understand that this film is just one part of a two-part equation heading into a September 6, 2019 premiere of IT: Chapter 2.

The casting of the Losers Club was attributed as one of the major factors for success and with the sequel taking place decades after the original, a series of A-list actors have been mooted to take over those roles. Speaking about Molly's Game with Screen Rant next to her co-star Idris Elba, Jessica Chastain did nothing to hose down speculation that she will portray the adult Beverly, something that has been slated by online artists and fan theorists.

Scoring an impressive $300m domestic haul, IT was a success from almost every metric. This came as no surprise to Chastain who saw their talents from an early stage.

"Well, I love Andy and Barbara. I worked with them on Andy's directorial debut, you know, his film, Mama. His first film. And you know, Barbara is one of my best friends so...We'll see."

So does that mean she would be keen on playing the role?

"Listen, of course, I want to work... they're my friends," she remarked. "They're like my family. Anything that they're doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen."

Elba has experience his own Stephen King adaptation in 2017 via The Dark Tower, although that could not have been more of a contrast in terms of the critical reaction. The Englishman also put his hand up in the interview with the role of adult Mike still vacant.

"Get me in! I love that movie!"

Stars Align For Chastain To Play Beverly

It Chapter Two

The director would address the rumor directly and while he kept quiet on many of the names, Chastain's would be mentioned.

"Jessi is an amazing actress and very good friend and I would love her to play Beverly," he replied. "Yeah, she loves the movie and it feels like the planets are aligned in that sense, but we still have to make that happen. There are a lot of ideas for the rest of the cast that I'm playing with, but it's a bit too premature to say those names right now."

Muschietti would then keep his powder dry on the rest of the cast during the red carpet event back in September, intimating that some theories are closer than others.

"I cannot talk about it. Some things said on the web are not totally wrong. That's all I can say."
