I have also taken note of how many "white people see the light and save black/hispanic/ethinic stereotypes from themselves". This usually involves sports, art&writing and music as a means for the white person to channel said helpless minority to a path of success. White persons hugs themselves humbly.

Why is everyone hating on black people? Dont you think this racism thing is gettting pretty old. Accept everyone for who they are and stop looking at skin colour.

Black people save white people all the time in movies, just ask Will Smith. He's saved a bunch of white people in Men In Black I and 2, saved a bunch of them in Independence day, saved white people back in the day in Wild Wild West, saved a bunch of white people in I, Robot, saved a hopeless white dude in Hitch, saved white people in Hancock, saved a white kid and latino chick in I Am Legend, and saved some white people in Seven Pounds. So dont say white people are saving black people all the time because will smith, the highest earning actor on the planet, has done it for the majority of his career.
PS I personally dont think this movie is really all that much about race just a down guy helping an even more down guy.
PPS If anyone needs more examples of black people saving whites i got plenty more, so just ask

This movie is based on a true story of someone who has a mental illness. Mental illness can happen to anyone, regardless of race, culture, financial status etc. Lets just try to help those who have mental illness, regardless of anything else. Can't wait for the film to come out!

Why is Robert Downey Jr. Playing a Latino? Aren't there Latino actors out there???

This movie trailer gave me chills! It's not about a white man saving a black persons life. I am an african american male and I see nothing wrong with anyone learning about another persons culture or putting yourself in a position to better someone. It's not all about race and people need to stop being ignorant and stick to moral behind this ture story. I see oscar written all over this movie. Come on people wake up and lets try to find differences in each other and try to learn more about each other.

Seriously, all of you people need to get over yourselves. Go see the movie if it looks good. If not, then don't.

For your information the Journalist is Hispanic. Steve Lopez. So its not white people saving black people from themselves. The movie looks beautiful. I was hoping to see these two very talented actors work together. When I found out that they were, I was anxious to see how it was going to play out. From what i can see, the relationship between them both looks brilliant.

Seriously complaining about race in this trailer/film? For one its based on a true story of a black musician and white writer, it has nothing to do with the race they are just telling the story. You could come up with any number of examples of race in many movies. Maybe there are lots of movies of whites helping blacks because thats how life really is? Hmmmm...

Can't particularly say that I agree with your assesment. (The Pursuit of Happiness, anyone?) You've got to stop seeing it from a biggotted point of view and see it as human beings helping each other. If you want to see a black person helping a white dude, go watch Jerry Maguire! Or just stop letting race be part of the issue. I just see two people in that trailer - doesn't even occur to me that one is black and the other is white.

Is anyone else tired of seeing "White people save everyone else who is not white from themeselves" movies? This crap has to stop.
