yup
Im Asutralian too mate. You are right about using the word Formal, but Ball is also used as much I reakon. And certainly each of these words is used when definitely the word Prom isnt used in Aus.
I agree also about the trailer showing too much.
Apparetnyl they want to show us the scariest twists, the outcome and the ending proper. Nice. Now the whole movie is more or less ruined.
So much for using SPOILER tags or warnings too.

Looks interesting
The trailer showed a bit too much I think but it could be a decent horror flick.
On the prom comment, yeah we don't use the word prom in Australia but I guess they just wrote it in the synopsis so that the premise is clearer to the Americans who read it.
Side note but we never called our prom equivalent a ball either but rather a "formal". I'm not certain about this but I think this is generally the case throughout Australian schools.

um...
This is an Australian movie right?
So how come they are using a word which is only used in America/Canada? "Prom"
Australian's say "Ball" not "Prom"

Hey guys! ‘The Loved Ones’ looks so sick. I just read an awesome review of it on FEARnet…of course, I did watch the trailer. I guess I’ll see how that was a mistake when I watch the movie itself.
Here’s a link to the review/trailer if you really must watch: http://www.fearnet.com/news/b19535_loved_ones_dont_watch_this_trailer.html

....
looks like it has potential, but I've seen enough flicks that try to be Misery and fall on their face. I'll give it a try though
