Trailer for The Hunger Games.
Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains.
Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her

...This movie, all things considered, looks amazing. i'm not comparing it to anything but the book and judged on what I've seen from the trailer it seems like it will go off mostly what the book is about. Definitely looking forward to this movie.

seeThis is exactly what I'm talking about, you don't think Battle Royale will compare to *this*!? This is a PG13 movie about kids killing each other, that hasn't even been released yet, and you're SOOO sure that it's going to be better than Battle Royale, a movie that has been out for well over ten years now and retains a *7.9* on the Internet Movie Database.
Your speculation is a joke people. Unless you mean that they are not comparable - literally, which - there's a pretty transparent flaw there, in that the premise for both is the same. The problem I have with all of you people is that you speak like you're psychic. I"m going to reserve my judgement, but seeing as how it's PG13, it's hard to imagine it will have the kind of edge a story like this would usually have by default.

Yes!So excited for this. The trailer has put my fears aside, visually they have nailed the look and feel of the book. although the glipmse we saw of the capitol kinda dissapointed me. i was expecting a colorful metropolis, it looks more like base camp. whatever, its still gonna be awesome.
and whats with this battle royale everyone keeps comparing it to? i just recently looked it up and i diont think its going to in any way compare to this film. and people, who would you have rather cast as the characters? im just dying to know, cuz i think they got some really big names to do this film. they've got to get an audience somehow.

BRI have to say this trailer looks great, but it does keep reminding me of Battle Royale...

SeriouslyAre we doing Hunger Games vs. Battle Royale now? Because I'm pretty sure no matter what side you're on, you're going to lose. I don't know much about the Hunger Games, but only an idiot would talk crap about Battle Royale on *any level* - given the premise, and it's obvious success if they're a fan of the Hunger Games. - Especially if they did 'love' it.
And no one should be pretending they know anything about this movie before they've seen it. So if you want to consider Battle Royale a 'real movie' what the hell is this? Oh that's right, you haven't seen it!
You guys should be ashamed of yourselves... IMO. You've initiated the most predictable argument since the release of the first book in the series.

SMHI have NO FAITH in this film. This novel should've been left alone. (my opinion)

Can't Wait! For anyone ragging on this as "just another post-apocalyptic" movie...3 words: Read The Books.
This is a very edge-of-your-seat series of YA novels. No vampires, no magic-wand-wielding hero, no wardrobe-that-leads-to Narnia stuff.
Pure.
Adrenaline.
Rush!

release dateDon't let the release date fool you. Every year, the start of "summer" backs up one more week. I just hope it meets Lionsgate's expectations so thiey will make the whole trilogy. I would hate for another repeat of the Golden Compass.

Great book..The Hunger Games is a great book to read and I hope the movie lives up to it, As for it being released in March, that is absolutely no indication that its a bad movie.

No Thanks, I can skip March 20`12 AltogetherAn... Apacalyptic-Narnia... (in a world where the creatures have parrished and the humans have entertained themselves, for themselves)
No Thanks.
March has never really been a good month for movies and MARCH of 2012 looks to be very and poor quality for movies next year.

lecomlaxer... you're like a child who wanders intoI sure as hell am not supposed to take the blatherings of a know-nothing (that would be you) seriously who doesn't have a clue as to what it is he's talking about. (If you were familiar with the books and the supporting character that Kravitz is playing, you'd know that it's by no means a horrible casting choice.
So you've seen Battle Royale, welcome to the club. As much as I love BR, The Hunger Games trilogy presents a much richer story with MUCH more fully realized characters.
Bottom line: the trailer is MAGNIFICENT. It gives fans of the books (of which I am most certainly one) complete confidence that the upcoming movie is going to be a faitfhful, competent adaptation. I for one, cannot wait.

Actually..This trailer actually makes this movie look great.. just because the trailer doesn't show a lot of the action from "The Games" themselves doesn't mean its not gonna be good.. If they showed that stuff in the trailer it would be way too spoilery. This is gonna be a great movie.
by lecomlaxer | November 14, 2011, 12:58PM
...so i'm supposed to take a movie with Lenny Kravitz seriously? Additionally, if this movie was cool it would show the kids murderering each other...go watch Battle Royale, thats a real movie.
