Trailer

Upscale Font The trailer for Red Tails.

1944. As the war in Europe continues to take its toll on Allied forces, the Pentagon brass has no recourse but to consider unorthodox options -- including the untried and untested African-American pilots of the experimental Tuskegee training program. Just as the young Tuskegee men are on the brink of being shut down and shipped back home, they are given the ultimate chance to show their courage. Against all the odds, with something to prove and everything to lose, these intrepid young airmen take to the skies to fight for their country -- and the More Trailer Details

Good To Go
I'm not a big Terrence Howard fan but I'm a big fan of history. I'm also a fan of David Oyelowo, Michael B Jordan, and Cuba Gooding Jr ...

I'll be seeing this film for multiple reasons. The correct story just needs to be told.

Americans died defending Americans in a war of the skies while attacking the enemy. End of Story

"Glitter," anyone?
If it weren't for the fact that Terrence Howard gives me the creeps, I think I'd like this movie.

u.s.a lives
i am a black man who fought i o.i.f 5 and i did it for my country not for credit, but this movie makes me very proud its not just black history its american history we all owe a debt i lost friends and they were white, spanish, and black hell my roomate is white and he is my brother. Hollywood can be a little racist at times ,but there still learning. If anything look at it like to be such a young country boy do we kick a lot of A#$ lol. btw if your reading this look up the airport and gift shop in bangor, maine. Half the patches and coins from the u.s. military are there and some of the people have been there since the vietnam war wishing soldiers a safe journey there and back.

Dont hate Snotpuss
@John R, actually Snotpuss is supportive of the movie. I think maybe you were thinking of Iron Man 24, whose post is above Snots. The site doesn't separate post very well.

wow
the internet is a wonderful place. as old and trite as it sounds, "if you have nothing good to say don't say it at all".

looking at you "snotpuss"; you really sounds like someone who has absoultely ZERO sense of history.

as if these kind of movies come out every five minutes. you don't like it, don't watch it.

I will be watching this, however.

the Hollywood spin
Far enough Iron Cross. One of the worst scene in Pearl Harbor ( and there were a lot) was when Cuba was holding the dying Captain, as says dramaticly "You trained us well,"...and so on, then jumps on the gun and starts shooting. In real life, did that sailor jump on the gun and shot down some Japs. Yes he did, quite bravly and heroicly. Did he say that or anything to the Captain, Hell no. No evidence (that I ever seen!) that he even saw the Captain before his death no less said anything to him. It was Hollywood spin simply added by the writers to add emotional effect. In fact that hole Cuba Gooding part was just not needed. Added for PC, maybe. Red Tails were documented with there success as I pointed out, and should be honored for that. They did bust a55, along with the other 60 million+ service members who gave there lives. I only hope that Lucus is not to preachy in with the script

get real
for a country that didn't give them rights? Tell that to the 370,000 soldiers who gave their lives for their rights. geeez! It's a myth perpetuated by the left that the Tuskegee Airmen were supermen. Fine pilots they were and they pulled their weight and more in WW2 but then again so did everyone.Every color of man had skin in that game back in the 40s and now they all want to bask in the glow of the feats of the ancestors. Nothing wrong with that. Its good that their heroism isn't forgotten. Let's just not embellish it simply to push one race in front of another. They were all brave men and women in my book.

don't hate
15,533 combat sorties, 1578 missions
One hundred and twelve German aircraft destroyed in the air, another 150 on the ground
Nine hundred and fifty railcars, trucks and other motor vehicles destroyed. One destroyer sunk by P-47 machine gun fire.
A good record of protecting U.S. bombers, losing only 25 on hundreds of missions.
Awards and decorations awarded for valor and performance included:
Three Distinguished Unit Citations
99th Pursuit Squadron: for the capture of Pantelleria, Italy. 99th Fighter Squadron: for successful air strikes against Monte Cassino, Italy
332d Fighter Group: for the longest bomber escort mission of World War II!!!!!
At least one Silver Star, an estimated one hundred and fifty Distinguished Flying Crosses
Fourteen Bronze Stars, Seven hundred and forty four Air Medals and eight Purple Hearts. Hopfully George Lucas will convy that since he wrote the movie. As a white guy, I to hate having it shoved in my face. However, give credit where credit is due. They busted there a55es for a countrie that didin't give them rights.

Redtails
I ve spoken to several tuskegee airmen while this movie was being made.....they all said tht it will be excellent and it will fix the mistakes from the other movie which had some crap in it.....they were excited!

No Offense
I agree with Thesar. I didn't mean to rub off the wrong way guys. It's just that a lot of movies that predominantly feature black actors are limited in scope. It's either a rom com, a Tyler Perry movie, a Jive talking comedy, or a movie about segregation. I would like to see more diversity that's all.
by thevoiceofreason | July 30, 2011, 4:05PM
great
Nice of the website to cut off my subject-line without a heads-up
by thevoiceofreason | July 30, 2011, 4:03PM
There's only on reason to complain about movies po
I think we all know what that reason is.

And there really aren't that many Holocaust films coming down the big budget pipeline either. You guys are being ridiculous. It looks okay. I'd much rather see this than all the stereotyping black comedy films that float around. But I think altogether Hollywood should stop patronizing black Americans as 'That subset of people who will watch anything that involves a giant cast of black actors'
by Thesar | July 30, 2011, 12:48PM
Pearl Harbor 2: Separation
Wow they preach diversity, yet they take pride in their segregation. And though, it looks oodles better than Pearl Harbor. ‘Course, that’s not saying much…
by Iron Cross | July 30, 2011, 12:16PM
leave the myth at the door
I hope this is an accurate representation of the Red Tails. The myth that they never lost a bomber is a Hollywood fantasy. Fact is they lost 25 bombers and they were no better than other brave pilots.

Hasn't Been this GOOD since Saving Private Ryan
I haven't seen a good war movie since SAVING PRIVATE RYAN... Good Cast, Howard & Gooding Jr., under Lucas Films...

GREAT START TO 2012...I'M DEFINITELY IN!!!
by naiyo | July 29, 2011, 9:32PM
What?
@Iron Man
I don't hear anybody saying GET OVER IT with the Jews and their Holocaust films. I haven't seen a big budget, nicely film movie in theaters about black ppl as the main stars in awhile. We need something decent.
by Iron Man 24 | July 29, 2011, 5:23PM
Another one
That's just peachy; another "black man overcomes all odds" movie with Cuba Gooding and Terrence Howard, who for some reason are like poster boys for these types of movies. I mean are they serious; what's next, black ballerinas who overcame? We are responsible for our own mess; slavery is over!!! Get over it!!!
by snotpuss | July 29, 2011, 1:09PM
Damn
This is a must see for me.
by ElGatoNegro1 | July 29, 2011, 11:59AM
Red Tails
Looks pretty good, really like to watch OLD WAR based movies and as they say true stories make for better movies most of the time...makes you proud to be an AMERICAN
