Green LanernGuess what? There’s yet another superhero invading the big screen this weekend. Who is it? Here’s a hint... He’s green. Is it the Hulk? The Green Hornet? No, it’s the Green Lantern, and don’t be upset at yourself if you didn’t know; With the recent avalanche of box office comic book heroes, it’s easy to get confused. And it’s that confusion (coupled with a number of other problems) that ultimately dooms the latest DC Comics offering.

Ryan Reynolds glows Green instead of Orange for onHal Jordan is a hot shot/smart ass, so is Ryan Reynolds, if there's anything wrong with this film, it's not him. I'm just worried the CGI is going to be too much, but I'm still open to this film. Also, I think certain shots the suit looks good and others it looks unpolished so if they clean some stuff up, which there's plenty of time for, I think it'll be an impressive look.

Green LanternTch. In the mainstream DC Universe the only hero that is a dark and gritty as Batman is Batman so people shoudn't expect that. All the rubber and CGI looks kinda cheesy but I'm sure they'll tighten that up before release. The first previews for the first Transformers looked cheesy to but the final product ended up amazing so there is hope there. For those saying it looks too light-hearted, well, all I gotta say is that if you have a problem with GL you are gonna hate The Flash! I think it will be good overall. If you want to get a really good feel for how it's supposed to be check out the exquisite Green Lantern: First Flight animated movie.

Come onStuff it, Wells.

Ridiculous. This looks about as mediocre as a superhero movie can get - a poor man's Iron Man. This stinker hould be direct to video.

glA little painful at times, but not terrible. Did NOT like the acting from the woman playing Carol.

CGIMy god! People, it supposed to look fake! Or is the Green Lantern Corp real? It looks nice to me, I'd take that over latex anytime.

Wow...Everyone who has a negative comment has to be mental. Ryan Reynolds is perfect for this role and has never failed us before. He is a great actor who usually makes bad movies enjoyable with pure talent. So stop judging movies by the crappy/early trailers you tards!

Nathan FillionAlso, regardin the fan trailer, I admit I would have liked to see Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan too, but there's no use dwelling on what it isn't. I say let's focus more on what it is and what it can be.

DesignYou know what the design of the rings/lanterns/costume reminds me of? Superman, and how the whole of Krypton was made up of crystals. What didn't line up with the comics was chosen to enhance the cinematic experience. Clearly they were trying to go more "alien" with the corps and the lanterns than what we see in the comics, and that's no small feat. I am a huge Green Lantern fan and I'm willing to wait until I know more before I render any final judgement.
And regarding the apparent lighthearted mood here, I think they're trying to strike a mood comparable to Iron Man more than Dark Knight.

Power BatteryMy only concern at the moment is the green vase-thingy. I hope that's not the design for Hal's power battery. I really want that to be it's camouflage mode but changes to a standard lantern when charging.

LANTERNActually, it looks pretty decent

seeing is believingummm with respect to the story, if these particular villains are realized, the story should therefore hold true to the tone of the source material, no?
The trailer's content juxtaposes the suggested alacrity.

Never was big on Green Lantern, was surprised it got made into a movie. I'll go watch it though.

really? This was what the hype was all about?
by bamstars | November 17, 2010, 2:24AM
the other trailerIs it wrong to say that I liked the fake trailer for Green Lantern (with Nathan Fillion) better? I like Ryan Reynolds but the tone felt grander somehow in that fake one than here. And not being as dark as Batman is fine but this feels too much in the other direction - will reserve judgment!
by flabbybuns | November 17, 2010, 12:56AM
Ryan ReynoldsI love Ryan Reynolds, but don't know what to think. It looks like it will either be good, and pull of the extra-comicbook look, or it will flop.
by Gaff1229 | November 16, 2010, 10:28PM
CGIMaybe, I'm not so sure that a rubber suit would have been any more believable given the context of Green Lantern. Besides, it does't THAT silly.
by Farzan | November 16, 2010, 10:21PM
WEAKLooks kinda silly and the CGI is pretty noticable. I still think it was a mistake to have the suit be all CGI.
by Gaff1229 | November 16, 2010, 10:08PM
God, what is it with you guys?Meh? Cheesy? God, you people are cynical.
And it's not a bad thing that Hal Jordan doesn't take himself too serious. Not all superheroes have to be as grim and gritty as Batman in order to work.
