PerhapsI wouldn't say it's very much like Akira in that Akira is very much a movie that dwells heavily on religious/philosophical themes and still leaves you scratching your head in the end. I still think this movie has potential to be good and I agree with that other person...someone is definitely going to die.

Looks good!Wow this looks great! I guess someone would say its like Akira in the scene with the kid Vs the police scene in the trailer. But this looks totally original and kickass! Cant wait :)

its not steeling is beeing inspired bythis is the way you borrow themes and characters from a different movie.
The similarities between akira and this movie are there, yet it feels absolutly new, looking forward to watching this film...
a lot more than the akira remake...

...Goddamnit I love how amazing movies are getting. Could you imagine a movie like this coming out just ten years ago? Peoples heads would have been blowing like scanners yo.

Akira? Not at all.Wait, how does this have anything to do with Akira? So, a teenager gets powers and loses control. Does it take place in Japan? Is he part of a biker gang? Are there little green kids running around? Does he turn into a massive monster that tries to devour the city at the end?
Saying that this is derivative of Akira because of two factors makes very little sense.

Akira... Really?Hollywood pitch "Let's make a Cloverfield type film, with superheroes, and steal the plot of Akira. Sound good?"
Andrew = Tetsuo?
