BattleshipI don't care what any of you say...
This looks awesome! It's got everything young people want in a movie lately... Action, CGI, good sound, CGI, Americans saving the day (as always haha), CGI, a romantic aspect with a hot-headed father taboot.... did I mention cool CGI!
Can't wait :P

Oy Vey...What the deuce is this trash?!
by Yin | September 6, 2011, 1:17PM
So What?Yeah, it's loosely based off of a board game. What if it ends up being a great action movie, though? I'll reserve my opinion until I've actually seen it.

missing itI guess I wasn't such a big fan of the board game. While I thought of it first, i didn't just assume it was directly taken from the board game. Is the poster the same as one of the old game covers or something? My thought was, just because a movie has the same name, doesn't mean it has to be a rip off of the game, or devired from it.

@ str8punk You would go to see The Last Airbender, a film directed by M. Night Shyamalan instead of seeing a movie based on a popular board game directed by Peter Berg? yeah that says alot about your taste in movies. At least Peter Berg makes fun movies that are atleast watchable. Besides Sixth Sense and Signs, Shyamalan hasnt made anything good.
by str8punk | August 1, 2011, 6:34AM
let's make checkers into a movie !This looks like it'll have a crappy first quarter of the movie...... and then we have alien ships vs the american navy..... and they take shots by turn..... i'm bored in advance.
Not even concidering to go and see this, and that says a lot..... i even went to the cinema for the last airbender (worst mistake ever)

Board game movies. Good business for Hasbro. Not mPeter Berg is a fine director, and this film certainly has a good production quality. But how about quality in any other department - story, characters, originality? Not even a decent cast except Liam Neeson, who will do anything for a good paycheck anymore. It's as if the economy has taken us to a point where studios won't gamble huge loads of money on any project unless it's based on a popular franchise that can be made into a PG-13 summer tentpole extravaganza. And they're really scraping bottom with this one. I got one, how about a Connect-Four movie?! Just add a love story, or a love "trianlge" - even better - and center the story around an alien invasion. All you need is red and black circles here and there to remind you that it is a Connect-Four movie. Diaganol!! Didn't see that coming, did you?!

It is better in IMAX"THAT is one huge biggest alien ship I've ever seen." (and the navy just staring)

Transformers 4: Battle Ship Wreck. This has Transformers written all over it, and not just because of the big "alien" ship VS the US military or the obligatory metal score/sound-effects...It’s taking a simple and wonderful childhood toy/game and butchering it beyond recognition, i.e. the Transformers films. Since there is not much you can do with the "You Sunk My Battleship" game in regards to a film translation, DON’T MAKE THE MOVIE. God, I hope this fails like all other Hollywood dumb ideas of late.
by Left4dead2 | July 29, 2011, 10:41AM
Maybe....?Ok i really need to point this out but Charise Thuron (yeah i butchered her name) and LIAM NEESON! I had no idea they would even concider signing for this but...hey the effects are Micheal Bay caliber (Im going to look for the "Produced by Micheal Bay" credit) and im just waiting for them to pull some sort of Transformers 4 tease at the end of this because that seems to be where this might head. Overall looks really good though.

by delpoi | July 28, 2011, 3:52AM
You sunk my Battleship..Am sorry but everyone bad mouthing this movie is sad yes its probably the weirdest game to movie franchise ever done but to be honest get past that and look at this for what it will be....a fun action filled special effects eye candy film!!!
Some people are so snobby looking down their noses at films thinking they know best....films are supposed to be fun and take you anyway from it all and make you enjoy yourself stop being so cynical people and sit back and enjoy what looks like a pretty cool film.

the trailerI'm going to be optimistic here. I do like Peter Berg; FNL, The Kingdom - all fine pictures. Hancock, not my favorite by any means. Is this trailer laiden with Hollywood cliches and no archetypical story, yes. The aliens don't make sense agreed but, as a summer blockbuster, why not. How fun would it be to watch two ships shoting at each other and either hitting, or not hitting their foe (like the game) I don't think it would be fun at all? Are there ways of finding a narrative/fun way to tell a story within the parameters of the game? Yes. Have they got it? By this trailer, no. Yet, I'm optimistic.
by Apollo4 | July 27, 2011, 7:19PM
wtfwhat tha...based on the hasbro battleship game!?!?!?!....since when did that game have effing aliens. Its two kids healing numbers out back and forth. And I love story, really...a love story. Ahh your my boss but I love your daughter, im a dirtbag punk but ill prove I'm a hero in the end.....oh man, and I know the movie tilte is "Battleship", but holy effing hell.....we don't have battleships anymore. At least set the movie in the 80's and not wearing the new 2011 uniforms. Im sure that's the twist, they'll bring one out of retirement to save the day.....
by lecomlaxer | July 27, 2011, 3:32PM
batteshipfirst of all, if anyone says "you sunk my battleship" in the movie (preferrably right before the hero kills the aliens at the end) then consider it a gigantic success. secondly, meh to the trailer. doesn't look terrible for what you're getting = transformers in the ocean. ianother eye-gasm movie isn't necessarily a bad thing...

Out of ideas? It's actually an incredibly ironic cliche to say that Hollywood is out of ideas. The notion that they have, and that they're basing films on board games by Milton Bradley to 'play it safe' is absurd. Why? Because there's nothing safe about this. I see absolutely know logic in the financial strategy here, it's not a good idea - how often do people play board games? - are they big enough fans of the games themselves, and their non-existent story to run out and watch MOVIES about them? The money for this could have been put into something with narrative and heart attached to it. Maybe it wouldn't have, but I can't believe this. Hollywood isn't running out of ideas, it's just filled with hacks who wouldn't know their ass from a hole in the ground. - Then again you could negate everything I said. Who else is a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean? And don't say anybody would have thought that was a good idea before it came out... Still, most, if not all of these board game movies aren't going to work though. I'd put money on it.
by flabbybuns | July 27, 2011, 1:13PM
AwesomeAre we watching the same trailer? This looks pretty sick! While I wasn't sure about having the enemy be aliens, I guess it was the "safe" choice
by Farzan | July 27, 2011, 12:34PM
Looks Fine to MePeople on this board are dumber than a rock. I think the teaser trailer looks mighty fine to me. Its based loosely off the board game. Considering most of the movies we get today are simply based off Comic books, Novels or their remakes of older films, its nice to see something new like this.
People need to chill out and wait and see if the movie delivers. Peter Berg is a talented director and I'm sure this movie will turn out much better than any Transformers movie out their. People pay money to see that crap, but aren't willing to give movies like this a chance even when they look promising?
