The 1979 class of Porter Gaud School in Charleston graduated 49 boys. Since then, six of them have committed suicide. When Paige Goldberg Tolmach learns that another former student from her beloved high school has killed himself, she dives into the past to uncover the surprising truth about a sexually abusive faculty member, attempting to release her hometown from the ghosts that haunt it.

“This happened right under my nose. I went to school where a sexual predator preyed on and victimized a number of my classmates and people knew but no one talked and this was one of our nation’s most prestigious private schools,” said Paige Goldberg Tolmach. “I am telling this story because I know this is not an isolated incident. There are sadly more Eddie Fischers and Jerry Sandusky’s out there and it is important for parents, and students and educators to not be ashamed and to address this monster that lurks in our classrooms.”
