Looking at three different uprisings in the Arab Spring—Libya, Syria and Bahrain—We Are the Giant reveals the experiences of young activists taking on governments and dictators. A father tells the story of how he was compelled to return to Libya to help his son fight against the Gadhafi regime. Two young Syrian men remain committed to non-violent resistance as their country descends into chaos. Maryam and Zainab, the daughters of well-known human rights activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja (currently serving a life sentence for challenging the oppressive monarchy in Bahrain) find their own way of taking a stand. Through a mix of on-the-ground footage and personal testimony, director Greg Barker (Sergio, Manhunt) gives us incredible insight as we hear first-hand the experiences of these brave young people and what it means to have a personal call to action.
