An other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1962. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of isolation. Elisa's life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.

Director Guillermo Del Toro is quite the guy when it comes to his latest fantastical installment. Octavia Spencer explained that she "would have walked the Earth to work with" the director. And, because of her admiration, the actress has been working to keep props from the film's set.

When Kevin Smith witnessed the first trailer for The Shape of Water, he admitted, "Seeing something as beautiful as this makes me feel stupid for ever calling myself a Director." Quite the praise!

The Shape of Water continually makes me think of Del Toro's other great fantasy film, Pan's Labyrinth. The film's have a somewhat similar premise, with a fantastic story taking place during war time. But, this time around, let's hope nobody's face gets bashed into oblivion. Like that film, The Shape of Water is surprisingly R-rated; hence the red band trailers. No Peter Pan-like fantasy here.

Unlike the last trailers for the film, this latest rendition brings in the Russians. A threat that was left out during the last few teases. Timed with the political climate? Possibly. Not that it matters, as this film looks like pure escape.

I can go on and on about the visuals and how amazing they look. But will just sum it up with how I can't wait to see what Guillermo Del Toro has in store for us with this one.
