Secondo Me begins at three prestigious European opera houses: the Vienna State Opera, La Scala in Milan and the Odessa opera house—but this is not a film about performances. Instead, we catch a glimpse into the ordinary lives of three cloakroom attendants: an elderly man familiar to patrons for his work at a university library; a grandmother coping with her grandson’s studies abroad; and a politically engaged middle-aged father supporting his family. The compelling stories of their day-to-day lives out of the spotlight contrast sharply with the grandeur playing out on the stage. Secondo Me is a quiet yet deeply empathetic quotidian portrait that gently observes three very different people at work, at home and in their communities.
