For 40 years Gaby has been the sole proprietor of Bouchards and Sons, an idyllic sheep farm in Canada. There are no sons, however; there are two estranged daughters to whom Gaby is devoted. When Marie, his eldest, informs him she is separated and about to lose her house, Gaby arrives at the painful decision to auction off his farm for the money. He has known nothing else and has nowhere else to go. But once started, the decision is irreversible. Gaby watches the auctioneers begin evaluating the worth of his lifetime's work. His land, his herd, and the daily routines were his world, but they also drove away his wife and alienated his children. Gaby is forced to examine his past and bravely face an uncertain future.
