Joining Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig in Despicable Me 3 is Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Trey Parker, co-creator of Comedy Central’s global phenomenon South Park and the Broadway smash The Book of Mormon.

Trey Parker does not do many films that are not related to Southpark, but he did Write, Direct and star in Orgazmo, where he played a young Mormon who is recruited to act in porn movies. And, then he also had a role with his Southpark part Matt Stone in the comedy Baseketball.

I have enjoyed the Despicable Me franchise. They are great family movies that my kids love and have tons of humor for us adults. While the first Despicable Me film is one of my favorite animated movies, the second one was just okay. Now, we will see if Universal Pictures will continue to pump out just another okay film or will they come out with another animated gem?

I think one of the keys to success lies in the villain. Jason Segel as Vector in the first film was great. He brought a perfect comedy pairing to Steve Carell. And, Benjamin Bratt as El Macho lacked that over the top humor Vector brought. So, they now bring in a comedic genius Trey Parker to bring to life the villain Balthazar Bratt, which should be a return to the Vector style.

There is no doubt that I will see this family being that I have children who are fans of all the Despicable Me films, but I just hope that this one can keep me as entertained and laughing like the first film did so well.
