You may be familiar with some of Director James Gray's previous films:

The Immigrant
Two Lovers
We Own the Night
The Yards
Little Odessa

Not only has he Directed all of the films listed above, be he was also the Writer. There has only been one feature film where he just wrote the screenplay, Blood Ties.

The film is based on a book, The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon, a non-fiction book by American author David Grann. The book was highly acclaimed and was a New York Times bestseller, one of Amazon's Best Books of the Year in 2009, Publishers Weekly's Best Books of 2009, and a Christian Science Monitor Best Book.

The lost City of Z looks like an epic adventure tale. This is another one of these incredible true stories that has been turned into a feature film. Watching this you would think that this is a Hollywood screenplay, but when you find out it is in fact based on a real person, that gives the film that extra richness.

I think the film looks very intriguing. It is like a real life Indiana Jones story. I also love the cinematography, the film looks beautiful! My one concern lies with the star Charlie Hunnam. I worry if he can carry film like this. Although his speech he gives shown both in the teaser trailer and trailer is on point, we still have not really seen in a role like this and I hope he proves to everyone that he has the chops to pull it off.
