The first Power Rangers entity, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, debuted on August 28, 1993...over 23 years ago!
As of today, the Power Rangers empire consists of 23 television seasons of 19 different themed series and two theatrical films, with this Power Rangers film being the third.
The other two theatrical release films based on the Power Ranger brand were:
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) which brought in $66 Million
Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997) which brought in $9.6 Million
We get our first look at how they plan on transforming the worldwide phenomenon Power Rangers into a full feature film. Which I think had to be an overwhelming task. People who are fans of Power Rangers are die hard and have certain expectations which can be very difficult to meet.
The teaser trailer does a good job of focusing on the core characters and how they come to grips with their powers. Not everyone is familiar with Power Rangers, so this helps introduce these characters to a potential new audience.
Being that is our first glimpse at the film, we only get a small snippet of any action and only a small taste of them morphing into the power rangers. Which, I think is a smart move by Lionsgate. For now, I think this will be a good tease for the fans out there.
