Power Rangers Trailer (2017)
Trailer for Power Rangers.
Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.
Power Rangers will be only Director Dean Israelite's second feature film. The first was Project Almanac, a film about a group of high schoolers invent a time machine and record their trips into the past.
Lionsgate seems very confident that the Power Rangers franchise will translate into big box office numbers with this film. They sunk in an estimated $120 Million into the film's budget.
TV Shows turned films is a family affair. Director Dean Israelite is cousin to director Jonathan Liebesman, who directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014). Both the Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles teamed up in Power Rangers in Space: Shell Shocked (1998).
Now that is a trailer for Power Rangers. Unlike the first Teaser Trailer, we get to see a ton more. While the teaser focuses on introducing the characters, the trailer focuses on the characters actually being the Power Rangers. We get our first footage of the team as the actual rangers, our first look at the villain Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks) and our first look at some on the intense action you would expect in a Power Rangers film.
My two favorite parts of the trailer is Rita and the humor. When I first watched the trailer I did not even recognize Elizabeth Banks, but she looks like a sexy badass in this film and a great villain. I also loved how they throw in some great humor throughout the trailer. These five kids become super heroes overnight and the humor grounds them as characters and something I like to see in super hero films.
This trailer does a great job at presenting the film and giving audience members a taste at what they can expect at the theaters. Although I liked the teaser trailer, I love this trailer and it has me even more excited to see this in March!
