Trailer for Nerve, starring Emma Roberts and Dave Franco.

Industrious high school senior, Vee Delmonico (Emma Roberts), has had it with living life on the sidelines. When pressured by friends to join the popular online game Nerve, Vee decides to sign up for just one dare in what seems like harmless fun. But as she finds herself caught up in the thrill of the adrenaline-fueled competition partnered with a mysterious stranger (Dave Franco), the game begins to take a sinister turn with increasingly dangerous acts, leading her into a high stakes finale that will determine her entire future.

While this is Emma Roberts and Dave Franco's first time working together for a feature, this is not the first time they've been in front of the camera together. The duo worked on the music video "Go Outside" by the CULTS.

Since Nerve takes a look at the online-voyeur generation, it comes as no surprise that some Vine and YouTube celebrities might be making some cameos. Whether anybody recognizes them is another matter.

First off, Dave Franco and Emma Roberts make for a great pairing. I'm just saying it. When it comes to the Nerve trailer, there is a lot of cool visuals to like. Sure, the premise might be a bit farfetched, but it doesn't mean that the idea at least isn't cool. The only real issue I have with this first trailer for the sci-fi thriller is that it presents the film in timeline structure, almost giving the entire plot away.

Yes, it's a story that needs some explaining, but Lionsgate practically gave away the entire plot to Nerve in just over two minutes. With another trailer sure to be on the way before the film's dangerously competitive theatrical release in July, let's hope that the studio spends more time teasing audiences with the visuals rather than trying to detail out the story.
