1892, New Mexico - legendary Army captain Joseph J. Blocker (Christian Bale) undertakes one final mission before retirement: escort Yellow Hawk (Wes Studi) -- a dying Cheyenne war chief -- and his family back to sacred tribal lands. After 20 years of violent struggle, this gesture of peace is as unthinkable as it is harrowing. Together they battle against a punishing landscape and the brutality of men alike, coming to the rescue of a young widow (Rosamund Pike) amidst the carnage of her murdered family. Two great warriors, once rivals across the battlefield, must learn to trust each other and find peace in an unforgiving land.

A heroic odyssey of survival, Hostiles becomes a story not about the miles traveled nor the battles fought, but the journey towards respect, reconciliation, and forgiveness.

Christian Bale and Ben Foster teamed for 3:10 to Yuma, which was a great western. So it makes sense that we will seeing the two sharing the screen once again.

As mentioned in the trailer, the film is from the same director who gave us Black Mass and Out of the Furnace. If you've seen those films, you might have noticed that he has a dedication to his cast. Which is possibly the explanation for the inclusion of cast members Christian Bale, Ben Foster, Jesse Plemons and Rory Cochrane. In short, Hostiles should make for a perfect film for "six degrees of separation."

Wes Studi and Stephen Lang! Two big names that were ignored in the first trailer for Hostiles, make a big debut here. And it's great to see those two getting plenty of attention for the second go.

But, considering that Hostiles is being described as an insanely brutal Western, this second preview for the film feels a bit more reserved than the last. The action and thrilling elements are there, sure, but the film's marketing team definitely seems more concerned with showing off the cast and dialogue this time around. All good, especially if a red band trailer is in store.

Either way, not much to complain about, as Hostiles looks like it could be a solid contribution to the Western genre.
