1975. Two miles west of London, Dr. Robert Laing moves into his new apartment seeking soulless anonymity, only to find that the building’s residents have no intention of leaving him alone. Resigned to the complex social dynamics unfolding around him, Laing bites the bullet and becomes neighbourly. As he struggles to establish his position, Laing’s good manners and sanity disintegrate along with the building. The lights go out and the lifts fail but the party goes on. People are the problem. Booze is the currency. Sex is the panacea. Only much later, as he sits on his balcony eating the architect’s dog, does Dr. Robert Laing finally feel at home.

The film is based on the book "High-Rise" by J.G. Ballard which came out in 1975. For over 30 years, British producer Jeremy Thomas has wanted to do a film version of the book. It was nearly made in the late 1970s, with Nicolas Roeg directing from a script by Paul Mayersberg. However, financing fell through and Roeg and Thomas did Bad Timing instead, and Thomas later went on to adapt Ballard's Crash for the screen with director David Cronenberg. This will be the 5th book of J.G. Ballard which has been adapted into a film.

The trailer does a great job at setting up the unique mood from this adaptation of J.G. Ballard's unique world he created 40 years ago. I love how the beginning of the trailer starts of with such a happy feeling and then things slowly progress into the crazy.

You also get a sense of how they setup up the class division with the more affluent up on the higher flower of the high rise. Similar to what films Titanic & Snowpiercer also did. Plus I love the amazing cast featuring Tom Hiddleston, Luke Evans, Sienna Miller and Elizabeth Moss and Jeremy Irons!.
