A Los Angeles crime saga in the vein of "Heat", Den of Thieves follows the intersecting and often personally connected lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff's Dept. and the state's most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles.
Gerard Butler is coming off what could be 2017's biggest flop. Just in case you are scratching your head, he starred in Geostorm. A film that might struggle to make back the money it spent on reshoots. Yeah, it's that bad.
But that hasn't deterred the actor, who is sticking to action with both Den of Thieves and Angel Has Fallen, a franchise film the actor has likened to Logan.
The whole hardcore cops vs criminals formula always is a safe bet. And seeing Gerard Butler looking a bit more er, bristled, works here. The first thing one might notice in the Den of Thieves trailer is that the cast is somewhat of an interesting mix. A lot of familiar faces, but most the marketing is likely to be centered around Butler with a dose of 50 Cent.
