TLA2the only positive thing about this movie was that it was kinda cool how they did the nickelodeon logo out of the four elements. in the intro. i wish i left after that.

huhThey creator must have been annoyed when Avatar came out and took that name when the comics came way before. Oh well, looks decent, though the trailer doesn't show much besides action sequences.

Response to trailerADDICT13But I am a wise sensei. The only reason you respond to me with insults is because there is truth behind my words. Somehow, it caused so much internal conflict within yourself that you felt it necessary to comment to me and attempt to insult me. Did you feel that this would somehow devalue what I have said to others? If that is the manner of insult that you throw at others, I can see the kind of things you think about on a regular basis. What a man spews at others often comes from their own gutter. Take that to heart and learn from it, my friend.

The Last Airbender DefenseI would like first of all to say that I apologize for the mis-information I fed concerning the order of the Books. It was not my intent to ruffle feathers. And I would like to secondly thank Diaigma for the kind defense; it means alot. At the end of the day...we are all Avatar fans and I think we all want this movie to come out well. We should not be at odds with eachother.

Response to a-parkman@live.comWhether mistakes are big or small, it is a mistake nonetheless. It is the manner in which you conduct yourself to others that will bridge the gap of understanding. Do not provide a reason for the dog to bark at you by rubbing its fur the wrong way, but the way the hairs are meant to grow. A smile and a waging tail is your reward, rather than a mauled arm. You gain nothing but the resentment of others when you call them out unjustly, especially if you yourself show fault to the very thing you are accusing the other of.
Take it for what its worth. It is your choice :)

Response to DiaigmaYes, I am saying that the other guy has a ****ty memory because he listed many things that were incorrect. I never said I didn't have a ****ty memory, but in my own defense, I haven't watched the show in a long time but I still remembered more than Dark Dragon's Spirit did. Don't bark at me for one little mistake when I was merely correcting his many mistakes.

Spoiler@Diaigma: Sorry for the 3-post, but you put a *spoiler* mark in the wrong place. Consider yourself lucky that I already saw the series, otherwise I'd be all up in your ass about it. In the age of the internet, I'd have every reason to be.
by ajmrowland | April 28, 2010, 7:25PM
DragonThe Dragon's voice sounds familiar. It sounds a bit like Ian McKellen, or it could be Patrick Stuart, or someone like them.

series@deafgoose:
"book" is what the series calls each of its own seasons. The dvd covers refer to each season as a "book" because Aang has to learn a specific element in that season.

Response to a-parkman@live.comI think it's unfair to tell someone that they have a *beep* memory, especially when you said that The Blue Spirit is ONLY in Book 1, when in fact, The Blue Spirit is ALSO in Book 2. Remember Zuko throwing his mask into Lake Laogai?
Yue does make reappearances in Books 2 and 3, but as the Moon Spirit, since she becomes *spoiler.*
Overall, from the trailers alone, this film looks to have caught the vision of the series beautifully. This remains my most anticipated movie for the summer of 2010.

if i was the directorIf i was the Director, i'd get the CGI team to recreate the entire original anime opening clip down to the details. The one where you first see 4 benders' shadows demonstrating the 4 elements with a red background drop and katara's voice narrating, all the way til the end when she says "But i believe Aang can save the world". I know none of these clips would be use in the actual movie, but that opening is a very good attention grabber for those who HAVE been watching the original show, and also a good introduction for the new watchers.
But im not the director T-T

Response to Dark Dragon SpiritDude...you can't be serious. NOTHING you said in your first comment is correct.
1. Princess Yue is only in Book One and is at the end when they visit the Northern Water Tribe.
2. Aang visits the spirit realm when he encounters the Spirit of the Forest (Panda) who captures Sokka. Aang then sees Roku's dragon who takes Aang to Roku's statue in the Fire Nation. Roku explains that Aang must be at the temple by the Winter Solstice so he can speak to Roku. This is ALL IN BOOK ONE.
3. The Blue Spirit was in Book One and as far as I remember, ONLY Book One, helping Aang escape Admiral Zhang's fortress.
4. Ozai isn't fighting. That's Zuko's uncle. We will not be seeing Azula or Toph because they are not in Book One. We may see a cameo of Azula because she did make at least one small appearance in Book One, but that's it. And Sokka was not somber. Ever. He was a very humorous character until the end.
I find it very hard to believe that you watched the show but if you did, you really have a ****ty memory. Sorry, but nothing you said is correct.

Not soldI'm still not sold. The special effects certainly look better, Princess Yue looks better, Appa looks right, and there were more identifiable scenes in the trailer, but I'm still not sold. It still seems kind of cheap to me. Maybe movie adaptations in general don't please me. On another topic, I didn't see anything that belonged in another Book. Everything came from Book I, I think. One thing I really like is that it looks like Katara's duel is in there!

Response to Dark Dragon SpiritM. Night Shyamalan has said that it is ONLY BOOK ONE! He wants to make a TRILOGY, each movie being one book from the series (first movie=first book, second movie= second book, etc...) So sorry, but ITS NOT ALL THREE in one movie (that would be a dumb move). Aang does meet Roku's dragon in Book one (Winter Solstice) FireLord Ozai does make a cameo but his role is small (thats a change from the book to movie), Aang is deflecting the fire, not controling it (if you look closely, you can see the 'Air" bending). Princess Yue is only in Book One, she becomes the Moon Spirit in Book's FINALE episode. Sorry if I sound hostile, i just like to emphasize stuff by capaitalizing since I can't do it with my voice.
by Dark Dragon's Spirit | April 27, 2010, 2:13PM
Response to ResponseIf the old man in the trailer is Zuko's uncle and not Fire Lord Ozai, then they have done a bad casting job as he looks nothing like his animated counterpart. Even if it is the post-imprisonment uncle. Be that the case, then I am happy to see that he will be there. As for Princess Yue...I was fairly certain that I remember her from Book Two as I have all three books on DVD and I watched them straight through last month...but if I am wrong, I am wrong. Nevertheless, the truth of the matter which I was trying to convay is that the movie will be covering all three books....and not just one. But thank you for your observations trailerADDICT13.....even if they were slightly lacking in tact.
by trailerADDICT13 | April 27, 2010, 12:57AM
Response@Dark Dragon's Spirit. My good man you are a ruh tard. First of all, Zuko's Uncle is seen in the trailer more than Zuko himself. He is the old man fighting, that is his uncle. And secondly, Sokka is with princess Ue in the season finale of Book 1, not Book 2. Also, Firelord Ozai is only shown walking in this trailer, he dos not fight. Get your facts straight buddy.

The Last Airbender DefenseFor those of us who are hardcore moviegoers and critics, I would just like to say that this movie looks as though it will be VERY good. I have every confidence that Shyamalan will do an excellent job, although I was skeptical at first.
Now for those of us who are true Avatar fans who have seen more than two episodes, please allow me to clarify something; this movie will cover ALL THREE books.
1. Of course they showed scenes that are obviously from Book One such as Aang's awakening, but there are also glimpses of Princess Yue, Sakka's girlfriend who becomes the Moon Spirit....that is in Book Two.
2. Aang does not start to travel to the Spirit Realm to befriend Avatar Roku's dragon until Book Two and it spills over into Book Three.
3. There is a scene with Prince Zuko dressed as the duel sword wielding, mask wearing vigilante fighting side by side with Aang and that did not happen until Book Two through Three.
4. There was also a scene with Fire Lord Ozai fighting....can we say Book Three?
The only thing people I did not see in the preview that I hope to see in the film are Zuko's uncle, Princess Azula, (Zuko's badass sister), and Toph, the blind earthbender, who is easily my favorite character.
And just for reference to those who say different, Aang did not master firebending until close to the end of the Third Book because it scared him when he accidently hurt Katara with it.....and Sokka did become a more somber and serious character after he became a sword master.

Sweet.@jimmydean: He isn't firebending, he's deflecting it. And second, the dragon was in Book One when he was in the spirit world and went to talk to Roku. This movie is only based on Book One which means the Northern Water Temple battle will be at the end of the movie.
ANYWAY. This looks amazing and I'm glad to hear it'll be in 3D cause that should be cool. :) The only thing I'll have problems with is if Sokka isn't as humorous in the movie as he was in the series, which will probably happen but I still have faith in Jackson.

Not firebending@jimmydean he wasnt fire bending that was just him reflecting his fire back with air

:Oi could go the "fanboy" rout and complain about how much it contridicts the show ( as in being able to firebend even though its only said that his is only a movie of the first book) but id rather not, IM SO EXCITED D:
though loking at this trailer it seems it might not be just the first book, i mean being able to firebend, and talking to the dragon, that didnt happen until the last book, so we will have to find out :]
