Ok, I have gotten laid plenty of times, ive been watching dbz for a long like 8 years since i was like 14, i am now 22. I feel in love with the kick ass action and the awesome story line, The directors of this movie never need to direct another one, they could have made this movie as sweet as the first new batman, than actually made somthing as sweet as the second batman, but no they didnt, this shit is so fucking kiddy gay, unlike the whole dbz series, it dosent follow the story line at all, should not even be called dragonball, what the hell the action is so fucking gay, the ape transformation was so fucking gay, the characters made no since the closes one to decent charcater was bulma, i mean at least give the boy some steroids before he plays Goku, I am bigger than he is, fucking going to school and shit ????????, They just ruined dragonball, please Fox either start the shit over and be forreal with it or sell your rights and dont make another one. DBZ best action cartoon ever made, probably best seris of anything that is ever made!! dont go fucking it up with some stupid ass kiddy, dumb shit

it was all the little things that made dragonball what it was, like bulma's blue hair, master roshi the 1oo something year old pervert and goku's stupidity and humor. so if people want to complain let them.

i am 15 and i have watched both dragonball and dragonball z as much as possible(not dragonball gt) and i believe that the creators of this movie deserve to be assassinated.

So the movie isn't going to directly represent the story line who f***ing cares grow up. I realise all you thirty-five year old virgins are worried about this movie that much but then again thats why you've never gotten laid. Also, just for arguments sake Goku was never ripped in the old dragon ball just in the new dragon ball Z after he miraculously grew to the age of mid twenties and he never looked asian ever!! If this was just another movie, I'd be fine, but when they stuck the name Dragon Ball in it they had a standard to live up to and they failed......EPICALLY!

Why did people who obviously don't understand the charm of Anime or Manga decide to make an adaption of one?

Take the Spiderman movie for example. Even if the makers weren't comic book fans, they understood the importance of keeping the flavor of the comic. Spiderman wasn't EXACTLY like the comic, but a real effort was made to stay true.

Adaptations like this alienate the movie from its original fan base, and mangle the story so much that zero new fans are attracted.

If this flops, you realize our chances for seeing other Anime live-action adaptations is very low.

The problem isn't even that this is nothing like the original source it's that the trailer doesn't make it seem like a good movie in general. Yet many people will spend their money to watch it. If you really want them to stop doing this instead of watching it in theatres or buying dvd just download it off the internet don't fund these bastards.

I watched some more trailers and I guess I was wrong. They didn't get Gokus' gi right. LOL

With all of the cgi that we have now, this shouldn't look as bad as it did. But whatever, I should have guessed that they wouldn't have got it right. I saw the 1989 live action version of dragonball and it wasn't bad for back then. The directors and producers should expect to have a riot at thier doorstep. There was already a dragonball movie anyway, try DBZ with mass cgi and the right cast, that would be cool. The only thing that is right about this movie is Gokus' gi, hard to get that wrong.

Oh yeah I always confuse that last samurai fag with this idiot that plays roshi they're both gay actually though so I guess it matters little.

I can agree that a lot of ppl that have made comments about how this will suck big time have made some stupid biased statements, but there are some things about this movie that irks me as well.

Forget blue hair and green skin... I could care less about visuals. I think Goku's character is just all wrong. Just like that one guy said about him being reserved about fighting. Goku would NEVER say something like that. He'd be training his ass so he could beat that guy. I can't tell from the trailer, but hopefully they didn't get rid of the carefree and innocent qualities of him.

It seems like a typical formulaic Hollywood movie. Underdog gets bullied in the beggining, then he finds out there's some latent potential ability or special power within him and that he must use it to beat some bad guy. He also gets the girl in the end and there's some mushy kiss scene (already seen in the trailer).

As for the Goku should be Asian argument... He IS based off of Sun Wu Kong who is technically Asian, but I guess since he's an alien I'll let that one slide lol. Wow I typed a lot. Probably gonna get a lot of tl;dr.

I'm a girl that grew up watching Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and GT, I was completely obsessed with it for 7 years or so, I did a lot of research about characters and stuff.... and...I don't know why many "true fans" are complaining...

first of all...Goku wasn't 5 years old on DB, he was 12 and it ended when he was 18 (even if he looked younger) it was the stupid English dub that changed very important stuff that now is making you angry cause you see no congruence on what you see on the movie...

This movie is an ADAPTATION get that fact straight. Goku was 15 when he fought Piccolo, the age makes total sense, Krillin is not in the movie cause if you remember by the time of the battle with Piccolo he was DEAD, Mai is with Piccolo cause Pilaf was the one who resurrected him, Roshi as a pervert made him a terrible character it was fun at first but it got old really fast.... Bulma HAD GUNS, AND MOTORCYCLES AND BIG CARS, if you didn't knew then I suggest you to go and WATCH what bulma and yamcha used as transport on the freaking OPENING...

Also...this is not the first Dragon ball movie ever made...What I know is that this one will not suck such as the first one (Unless you think that goku fighting a plastic crocodile is so much fun...)

to be goku, for bulma to be bulma, for Roshi to be roshi, and yampcha to be yampcha.

Goku was a boy who wasn't blond, had like a monkey, and anywhere from 5 to eight years old in the anime. Bulma was always a damsel in distress , so why would she own guns, she was a tech wiz. Roshi was bald, a prev ( Ps they could have made him into a goof ball) . Picollo was green and had anttenas ion the head.

All we are asking is that the characters actually be the characters, is not like we are asking for cars or buildings that pop out of capsules.

Now don't say this does translate to the big screen, because it does.

Now if any of you would bother to think clearly, and have a opened mind, you'd be able to understand somethings just dont transfer well to the big screen. So making a staright copy, you would have this silly over used CG movie with no real flow.

This movie is only taking the key points of Dragon Ball, Goku, some Balls, and a Bad Guy, and putting it in a Mondern era. Yes at first glance the cast is abit weak, but if you bothered to read up on it you'd know Stephen Chow of Kung Fu Hustle is Producing it and the help of Ben Ramsely who worte The Big Hit, and that movie was the Shit, Also 87 Eleven the guys who did the fights for The Matrix and 300 are leanding hands. This info can be found on the Wiki, but then there are Wiki haters too.

In the end all im trying to say is, sometimes you need to get a little knowledge about how movies work before you bash them, cause there are things that look good on Pen and Paper that dont on the Screen.

Actually, for me (and perhapse others), is that since a story is defined a good amount by it's cast/characters, if they are (almost?) completely differant, then it's not the same story as the original, but something very differant more -based- on the original. For some this is both good and bad. Bulma is more differant then having an incorrect colour hair. Roshi Sensei is completely differant, Piccolo being green is one thing that defined the fact he WASN'T HUMAN. No, it's not Dragon Ball Z, But in the original series, it was pretty obvious he wasn't human. Moreover, Goku was two times younger (he was infact a small boy with extreme innocents as the very center of his persona), and not a funny-looking 90210 reject...

So what remains? Personality and persona... Are they completly intact? If not, then a good amount of true fans WILL be dissipointed (Those who've only seen DBZ and GT, and think that's what this is, are not true fans).

If this movie will be good or not, we'll see, time will tell. Because in track record, they haven't made a movie in the States yet, that captures the original stories of anything from Japan, as if they thought it needed repairing (save perhapse Speed Racer? Haven't seen it, and haven't seen the show since i was a small child, so whould i notice a differance?). If the need to repair, then why did they wanna remake it to begin with? Why repair something un-broken? It already appeals to it's audience.

Besides this, it looks like it'd be a decent movie... Just like the Super Mario Bros. Movie was a decent movie by it self, but very much contrary to the original concept, so that it was Mario in name only. The same story could have applied still with themes a bit closer to home (good writers and directors can do that, despite what most think, if they'd only try to realise they remake something that fans already love. They just didn't know enough of the original, or how it as simplistic as it was, could still be worked into a story... You know, like most modern un-canon Marios are, and do just fine story-wise).

Again, however, time will tell as to if this movie flops. i won't completely decide if it's good till i see it... ...

i am a long time dragon ball fan. before you guys say anything, please watch the old dragon ball live action movie entitled " dragon ball: the magic begins ". its an unofficial dragon ball movie created way back in 1989. its closer to the anime and manga than this crap. if they can do that during the late 80's why can't we do a better one now? look it up in torrent sites and see the difference between the two before you say that this movie will not suck. comparison will give you a better judgement and justification.

I have been a fan of DragonBall ever since I was a kid until today. I have been drawing the anime, buying collectibles, etc. I became glad when I knew that DragonBall was going to be adapted into the big screen.

But, after seeing the "horrible" pictures of the charecters and the actors that will play them, my heart sank. They destroyed the image of my favorite anime, they butchered and stepped on it. And now, after seeing the trailer, I became really angry. What the fuck? Guns? Real cars? Fucked-up characters? Shitty production crew? BAD. FUCKED-UP writer and DIRECTOR?

Wow, look like this is going to a deathblow to Dragonball franchise.I grew up watching DB,DBZ and DBGT and I know that they could have made this movie a 100 times better then it looks. I mean the anime was way better then any marvel comic. I hope it comes out great but that looks like a long shot. Hopefully it does good enough to make a sequel and just start off with the saiyan saga with new directors and writers so that they will stick to the storyline, which is what they should have done in the first place.I mean the fighting in this looks gay and different from the anime and the fact that they masacred every character, all i can say is wow. this movie should not be made because it cannot be done. there is no way this movie could be done right. some anime, video games, and comic books are just not meant to have movie adaptaions. DB/DBZ will always be my favorite anime and should stay that way, an anime.

Hmm. Pretty much what I expected after seeing the pics for this. Just about on par with a Uwe Boll film or the Dead or Alive video game adaptation. Anyone who was involed in the making of this movie should be dragged out to the street and shot. This movie would be a total embarrassment to watch alongside friends if it contained the exact elements of dragonball/z. i.e. puar, oolong, blue hair, corky early nineties cartoon humor (i would sink down in my seat). Things that I am concerned about is bad special effects, bad acting and/or fighting choreography. I have been after movies to find the perfect formula of c.g.i., creative camera angles, and real-time footage to create fighting scenes that leave shivers down one's spine. 300 may have the record in my opinion (still coulda been better). If the directors could find that formula, they would have something that would shine thru faulties such as:character inaccuracies, unreletivity of the series and the actual name Dragonball- which kinda sounds gay for a movie if you really think about it. I liked the show alot when I was young and I appreciate the story in it's entirety. But the name "Dragonball" somehow does make the movie look unappealing.

A more faithful adaptation of Dragonball is necessary to make the transition from DB to DBZ. Is Goku a Saiyan? Why did they take out characters like Puar, Oolong, even Korin (who is a major player in the actual Piccolo Daimao saga)? They could have been worked in just fine if the writer(s) were at all talented, and were also fans of the series. And what's with the 'Fast and the Furious' meets Bullet Proof Monk feel? It's just a trailer, but I sure as hell hope that the movie does good enough so that someday, in the hands of the right people (i.e. true DB/DBZ fans) we may see Frieza on the big screen. Hands down the pinnacle of DBZ, just as the Piccolo saga was to DB.
For kicks, I have began writing my own DBZ screenpaly (as many probably have). I lived and breathed DB/DBZ (both english and original Japanese) for years and I guarantee I could write an awesome movie. If only I knew Akira Toriyama...

I will say this: this looks dumb. I'll look past bulma's hair, the fact that Crilian is absent and piccalo is still evil King Piccalo. This is not dragon ball. They should have just writen the script, and called it something else, and in the credits just said: based on drangonball seires. How did they think this was going to fly? Long time Dragon Ball/Z fan here, I have to say this is the stupidest looking movie I have ever seen. If it was not in any way related to Dragon Ball at all I would think this was the next Mortal Kombat movie but since it's DB well...I can only assume that we have hit the all time low in entertainment. These are the final days of movies and TV. We have outlived this type of entertainment. It is time to move on, on to Holodeck 3 that is. We have become so desensitized to explossions, gore, sex and the like that now in order to make a box office hit the producers of these terrible fliks thinks it must be neccissary to make everything over the top. Who are they trying to impress? Three year olds? Come on, we are more mature than that aren't we? I know a good movie when I see one. IRONMAN was great. It was not over the type. It was just badass because the actors did a good job and the explossion were addequit and not over the top. 28 weeks later was a nice ADAPTATION (I see you use that word a lot you faggot supporters of this piece of crap) of a zombie movie (as was 28 Days later the first movie of the two)

Let me just end with this: This "Dragon Ball" movie is supposed to be an adaptation of the original anime from japan that was based around a saiyan child who had a tail and became a huge ape on full moon nights and had a flying cloud and a bald midget for a friend and could shoot huge freakin lasers from his hands and was able to punch like the FIST OF THE NORTH STAR! Bulma's hair was blue and there was a talking pig, and Master Roshi was an old perverted hermit.

This is not a good adaptation. So much has been changed that it can no longer be related to Dragon Ball simply by included the concept of the Dragon Balls into a poorly writen screenplay involving bad kung-fu and cleavege.

This movie will suck shit. I am not sorry either. I hope this movie dies in its own piss.

I've been watching Dragon Ball series way back in 95'... As a dedicated fan... this movie's theme does not do the fan justice! I'm glad they made a dbz movie but this... The scene just does not seem right... I think that with the money hollywood gets, it should not look like this... This looks like a crossover between 'bulletproof monk' & 'jackie chan: The Medallion'... I'm very dissapointed with where this movies seems to be headed... I really think they have hired the 'wrong' director and casts... It just does not do the DBZ theme justice... sad...

Long story short, underachieving kid gets tapped to save the world, fails every test during his training, gets "inspired", digs deep within himself, reaches beyond his potential, gets the girl and saves the day. We've seen the formula before. (All it needs is the bully to pick on Goku in the first few scenes)

I don't think anyone who is a true DB/DBZ/DBGT fan should expect it to live up to what they want. (I won't get into the whole "DBGT isn't part of the manga...." debate)

If there is a sequel, maybe they'll reveal his name is Kakarot, bring in Vegeta, the Saiyans, Super Saiyans, Cell, Buu, fusion, and the 47,836 other things they couldn't include in Dragonball but I don't think there will be a sequel unless this one makes at least $200 million.

I'll still see it before forming a final judgment but I think it'll be better judged independent of the manga/show. In other words don't compare it to what we are used to, judge it as if you never saw/read any prior DB stuff. The film was made for the masses, not the hardcore fans. (more $$$ to be made by appealing to the masses who don't know any better).

To tell the truth, making a film adaptation from anime is NOT EASY. They have to make several sacrifices to make the film more "Scientifically possible". This film is the closest thing they have to the anime without getting too "creative" or "fantasy-like". They're trying to bring the non-real character to reality. that's like transporting humans to the next dimension.

So don't try to compare anime and live action. that's so subjective. When the movie goes out, try to review/comment/complaint/praise to the technical stuff like storyline, characterization of the actors, the special effects...

other then the gay wooshing sounds, this trailer doesnt seem to bad. the guy playing Goku actually kinda looks like Goku, and since this is dragonball and not DBZ we can ignore the fact that he doesnt have any muscle. piccolo, if you pause the trailer after goku shoots a beam, you can see piccolo doing a flip, and he is clearly green.

I really don't know the big fuss about it. Actually when I first heard about this I thought the same thing. You people arguing out there isn't going to change anything, for real. Do what I did and go around looking at other peoples opinions, the positive ones. It changed my views. Such as a guy saying " WHo cares if goku isn't asian. If you want to get technical, he isn't even human, so he can be any race they want him to be." That truely makes since. Another guy said " Well look at it this way. Everything in the Dark knight was changed and nobody complained about that. THey had to change some of the things in the movie to make it more believeable. NOt only that but it came out to be a huge success!"

i had been waiting for this and i have to say this is the most disappointng teaser trailer i've ever seen... what's with the fast and furious cars? this is just too hollywood... it's might be a good action movie... but it'll suck ass if ur a db fan... i'm not complaining about the "blue hair" or the "green skin" but this is just not dragonball...

judging from the looks of the trailer, the storyline deviates too much. Roshi here and MASTER Roshi are two completely different people it would seem. the only thing in common is their shirt. bulma's hair is forgiving, doesn't matter if its blue. son goku looks too old. and hes white. not that theres anything wrong with white people, last I checked goku does not looks like a white guy although i like justin chatwin well enough. Piccolo... oh no. Yamcha looks pretty cool. Thats probably maybe the only thing that goes right. And from the looks of it, most the actors are ... a little inexperienced. but we should always root for the underdogs. the special effects don't look very impressive. it kinda reminds me of d-war. too many colored smoke/water vapors flying around. ki blasts don't have vapors. the stunts look very mediocre. i expected a little better from james wong. thats basically it overall.

Seriously, go ahead and not watch it. When it comes time to fight the battle of who owns the rights to journey to the west, there are other versions out there, DB will be on the losing end. I hope they pull everything DB off the shelf. You better buy your DB stuff on dvd now and take real good care of it because it will probably be jerked for infringement! Ungrateful, tunnel visioned, unimaginative, inflexible people, sheesh.

It might be a good action movie but I dont think it is going to impress real dragon ball fans.

i expected more flying. hopefully theres something in this movie that sets the fighting apart from normal kung fu flicks. hopefully its good so vegeta can come in to play.

Sometimes the movies cant follow the anime, things gotta change to actually make it understandable. This is just the beginning to all DragonBall movies that are live action, -hopes sequels will come out-, but yeah think about Transformers that came out well, and so on. I for one will see the movie as a fan not to creticize

Seeing how this is just a teaser, I can't really say anything about it. It didn't blow my skirt up; however. But then again it is just a TEASER. and yet all of you have already formed an opinion on it. & as for Arm!'s post. You sir or madam, are a complete moron.

It has to be realistic to fit on screen, otherwise most of the movie would be done with blue screen and CGI, and I'm sorry but that would look totally gay.

Just because certain people may not have the creativity to see how the can bring the original story to screen, doesn't mean that it cannot be done.

This looks like a trainwreck.

The trailer looks like a mediocre action movie. But it was a really nice try. Truth is, no one can make a movie on the legendary anime series Dragonball Z or Dragonball or even GT so we should just let DBZ stay as anime not live action....

as a die hard fan, im going to support this movie. it could have been worse. but you have to think that they have to keep it realistic. i mean compared the the show, doesnt this kinda make sense? you turn a kids cartoon into a adventure movie for all ages? i dont think my older bro could watch the cartoon but this he could watch

Who cares, it's an adaptation, an appropriation, not a copy. I'm sure all the nitpickers would be disappointed if they kept things the same as well, because there'd be talking animals, a flying cat, and piccolo's prison would be an electric rice cooker.
