Morgan Trailer (2016)

Trailer for Morgan, starring Kate Mara, Anya Taylor-Joy, Toby Jones and Rose Leslie.

A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent "human," who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.

If you were wondering if there was a chance that director Luke Scott was from the Scott lineage, you'd be right. Luke Scott is the son of famous director Ridley Scott, who is also produced this production. Luke has been making a name for himself in the commercial arena, so a lot of industry folk are watching Morgan to see how he does in his first feature outing.

Like many films of recent, the screenplay for Morgan was included on the 2014 Black List, a list that includes the best passed over screenplays.

Though we don't want to give any hints, but the film's cast would make for an easy six degrees of separation if you started with certain comicbook adaptations.

I have been a big fan -- more like a crush -- of Kate Mara ever since seeing her with Mark Wahlberg in Shooter. She's grown fond of the Sci-Fi genre, and am glad to see Ridley Scott is also a big enough fan of the actress to bring her back for this production. In terms of the trailer for Morgan, the build up is fairly well done. Introducing the "corporate troubleshooter" named Dr. Lee Weathers (Mara), we learn about the title character in an exposition piece at the same rate that our protagonist does. All sounds miraculous, until we hear about the so-called "incident".

Then the trailer turns ape-shit crazy in a Lucy sort of way. Just like Scarlett Johansson's character, Morgan seems to have learned how to access internal powers thanks in part to her genetically engineered mind that humans have only dreamed of. One such power--Telekinesis. After punishing Paul Giamatti with what I can only call a Jedi force push, Morgan at least seems to go on an all-out killing spree in order to escape her confines.

Looks pretty awesome actually, and I can't help but notice some of the flickering light, busted living space, visuals reminiscent to Alien. And who directed that movie?
