Logan Trailer (2017)
Trailer for Logan.
Set in the future of 2024, Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation lead by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world leaving it to destruction, with Logan's healing abilities slowly fading away and Xavier's Alzheimer's forcing him to forget. Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.
The title of the film is "Logan." This is a reference to Mark Millar's graphic novel "Wolverine: Old Man Logan."
Logan will mark the end of an era for X-Men. This is the last film in which Hugh Jackman will play Wolverine and Sir Patrick Stewart will play Professor X.
The film will take place in the future, the year 2024, but in the far future that was established in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
Director James Mangold has also directed:
Knight and Day
3:10 to Yuma
Walk the Line
Kate & Leopold
This is the final film to feature both Hugh Jackman and Sir Patrick Stewart in the respective roles, so it is highly anticipated. Both actors have brought so much to the X-Men cinematic universe and solidified themselves as Wolverine and as Professor X. It is unusual in this day to go so long in a film series and have only actor portray the same character for the entire span. Batman, Superman, Spider-Man have all had different actors. The Avengers are on a similar path, but we will see if they can keep the same actors locked in their respective roles too.
This trailer definitely has a darker feel to it. And the choice to use Johnny Cash's song "Hurt" helps to set the mood of what could be the "end" of Wolverine. I personally think the song was a great choice. If you watch the trailer and listen to the lyrics at the same time, they seem to be a perfect fit.
In the scene with Logan and Laura (screen shot above) near the end of the trailer and Logan is holding a shovel...is this him burying the Professor?
This is a great first trailer and I look forward to more!
