Independence Day: Resurgence Feature Trailer (2016)

Feature Trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence.

Two decades after the first Independence Day invasion, Earth is faced with a new extra-Solar threat. But will mankind's new space defenses be enough?

Will Smith was supposed to reprise the role of Captain Steven Hiller, but Fox refused to meet his request for a $50 million salary for two sequels.

This is Roland Emmerich's first sequel.

Second collaboration between director Roland Emmerich and actress Sela Ward, the first being The Day After Tomorrow (2004)

As a big fan of the first Independence Day, each trailer I see for this sequel gets me more and more excited about this one. They seem to have stuck to the same formula that made the first one such a huge success.

The visual continue to be awe inspiring...and so much collateral damage!

Independence Day Resurgence Screencap 2
My only worries right now are how the film will stand missing the comedic element that Will Smith brought to the first one. It is hard to imagine the first film without him and same with this one. They have gone with some new characters, Jessie Usher will play Will Smith's characters' step sonand Liam Hemsworth will play Bill Pullman's character's son-in-law.

It will be up to these guys to hopefully bring something new to the film and eleviate the pressure from Jeff Goldblum having to carry the whole film.
