Netflix Will Distribute Duncan Jones’ Mute

Netflix knows when they have a good thing. With anticipation building around Duncan Jones' Mute, the premium network has secretly agreed to handling the task of distribution. With the deal in place, expect to see Moon return to Netflix as well. Especially considering it was recently revealed that the films are definitely related and part of Duncan Jones' sci-fi universe. The film's star, True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard, stopped by Empire and released some new details on the project during a podcast.

While it was big news to hear that Netflix will do a similar theatrical release to Beasts of No Nation for Mute, Skarsgard also gave some other details as well.

Skarsgard Gives Some Character Details for Mute

While we have some idea on the story behind Mute thanks to an early synopsis, we know little about the characters. Alexander Skarsgard attempted to explain some background on his character and how it relates to the film's title.

"It’s about a guy who was in an accident as a kid,” explains the actor. "He’s ex-Amish, so he lives a very monastic life: he doesn’t have a cellphone or anything like that. He’s left the [Amish] community but he still kinda follows the rules."

Sam Bell's Return to Mute

The podcast attempted to press the actor for additional details on the return of Moon's Sam Bell. Will the character really be returning? While it seems a safe enough assumption to say yes, any additional information would at least be intersting. And, while it was clear that Skarsgard has an idea on what to expect, he kept that bit of information to himself with a simple, "maybe."

Well played good sir, but not exactly wowing us. With Duncan Jones already giving us an idea on what to expect from Sam Rockwell's return, we can't help but now turn our attention to Paul Rudd. One of the other few names listed as part of the lead cast, the actor's role is far more mysterious. The only thing we do know, and I'm not sure I can confidently say we "know" this, but it is said Rudd is playing an American surgeon with an important piece of information.
