Zeroville is actually a 2007 novel by Steve Erickson which covers film's upheaval in the 1970s. It was named one of the best novels of the year by Newsweek.

Here is the plot for the book:
Ike Jerome, a 24-year-old architecture student inspired by the few films he has seen, rides the bus into Hollywood. Jerome is almost autistic (later, his friend dubs him a "cineautistic") in his interactions with the world, and is deeply affected by his childhood with his religiously oppressive father. With a tattoo of Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor as they appear in A Place in the Sun (a film that plays an important role in the plot) on his shaved head, he makes an impression on the people around him. Soon breaking into film as a designer and eventually a film editor, Vikar (as he is nicknamed) begins a dreamlike journey into the world of films that eventually ends in tragedy and almost horrific discovery.

OK, before you comment on how bad the sound and picture quality is let me tell you that this is a Sales Trailer. It is used to pitch to studios to try and get them to option the film. So, yes the quality sucks but it is all we got so far.

Although this film is considered a comedy, it is not your typical Seth Rogen and James Franco comedy. Which can be confusing since they are promoting the film as the same people who brought you This is the End, Bad Neighbors and The Interview you would think the film would lean more towards the ha ha comedy and not dark comedy.

But, this film seems to be all over the place it is hard to get a feel for where they are going with it from this sales trailer. One thing James Franco and Seth Rogen are great at is rallying up all their comedy friends into one hell of a cast. I am hoping for more from the next trailer.
