Short presents an evening and morning in the life of two brothers, Roberto and Chris, who have the house to themselves while their parents are away. Their listlessness is interrupted by Tony, their next door neighbour, who, though initially quarrelsome, attempts to get the boys involved in his idea for a sustainable musical extravaganza he thinks could tour Australian primary schools. Blurring the boundary between fiction and documentary, the film presents a series of wry, surreal vignettes that give a glimpse into contemporary middle-class Australian preoccupations and psychology. The film explores how we act and interact in a society living under the yolk of freedom, happiness and personal preference.
