Based on the New York Times bestseller, Wonder tells the inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to find their compassion and acceptance, Auggie's extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can't blend in when you were born to stand out.

The movie is based on R.J. Palacio's book of the same name, "Wonder", where a boy named Auggie has a rare medical facial deformity, mandibulofacial dysostosis, more commonly known as Treacher Collins syndrome and a cleft palate. 

The book is a children's novel and was released back on February 14, 2012. It has won several awards: Maine Student Book Award, Vermont's Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children's Book Award, Mark Twain Award, Hawaii's Nene Award, Junior Young Reader's Choice Award.

There have two other related book released that are spin-offs of the first book "Wonder": "365 Days of Wonder: Mr. Browne's Book of Precepts" and "Auggie and Me".

Wonder is one of those feel good films that you basically know what you are in for when you decide to watch it. It will follow the basic formula of things start out very difficult and you will emotionally be drawn in to feel connected to the main character and then slowly things will get better and better until the end when everything turns around...and I love that.

At at time when it seems that the vast majority of the major studio films are action, super hero or remakes...it is refreshing to see a new drama that takes on a great storyline.

It is nice to see Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson take on these roles because with their names comes exposure the film would not receive had it been unknown actors. And, Jacob Tremblay looks absolutely incredible in this film. He was great in Room and he may be in the Award season talk with this role.
