Trailer for Wasted Youth.

Summer in Athens: it is hot and hard to breathe. Young Harry spends his days skating with friends, between adolescent hobbies and nocturnal raids; Vasilis, a middle-aged nightwatchman, lives in a state of depression because of his job that he hates and a family he does not know how to support. They may never meet, but in Athens the air is heavy, and a small spark can bring cause hell.

Chosen to be the opening film at the 2011 Rotterdam Festival, inspired by real events and constructed by spending a month researching "in the field" amongst the skaters of the city,

Wasted Youth is the product of the meeting between the Greek Papadimitropoulos and the "foreigner" Vogel. They both adopted a dual-track approach: showing reality with the naturalness of a documentary and at the same time constructing the suspense of a metropolitan thriller. With chilling actuality, they photograph the effects of the crisis on the everyday void lived by two generations that do not communicate: the fury creeps in and is unstoppable, as if a contagious form of intolerance was vaporized into the streets and squares.

Who will give back to the Athenians the time wasted waiting for a solution (or miracle)?
