Though this might be the 9th contribution to the Planet of the Apes franchise, it is the first to show what at least looks to be the final downfall of man.

As the third trailer of the bunch, the War for the Planet of the Apes theatrical trailer is all about bringing in the emotional element. Well, it brings more of the emotional element, plus a bunch more action. It becomes clear that Caesar is still all for peace, while the humans continue to push his buttons. Somewhere in the middle of it all there is a little girl named Nova, who is obviously incredibly important. Not only is she given renewed attention in the new poster, but it becomes clear that she is a primary driver for the film's heart and soul. But, for the life of us, the studio isn't promoting the actress herself. A marketing conundrum that has us scratching our heads.

Will she be like Logan's X-23, played by the scene-stealing Dafne Keen? It certainly feels like they are setting her up this way. Save for the fact that instead of kicking ass and taking names, she is there to drive the story's emotional angle.

We dig it.
