Evey (Natalie Portman) discovers that her captivity, and torture, have been part of an elaborate farce staged by V (Hugo Weaving). Though it wasn't technically real, the fact that she thought it was real was all that mattered to V. The discovery causes Evey to have a panic attack.
Natalie Portman explained that V for Vendetta was considered a second chance for her acting career. With scenes such as this, her career choice was reaffirmed.
Scene also features the beginning of the track "Evey Reborn" by Dario Marianelli. A piece of music that was later featured in the Interstellar trailer.
