Underworld: Blood Wars Blood Trailer (2017)

Special trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars that was released to international markets under the title "Blood Trailer".

The next instalment in the blockbuster franchise follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

While discussing the first trailer we pointed out that, yes, another installment of Underworld is currently in the works. What we didn't know at the time is whether the next sequel would once again feature Kate Beckinsale. Well, it turns out that Kate Beckinsale has committed after all. We originally heard that the film could be a "made for TV" installment. But, with Beckinsale on board, we can most likely rule that out.

The film did have some production delays, causing it to move from being a 2016 release to an early 2017 release.

It turns out that Underworld: Blood Wars will showcase some sort of big reveal about the current status of Michael Corvin, as played by Scott Speedman. Theories look to be on point, so don't research what this "reveal" could be if you don't like spoilers.

Underworld: Blood Wars Blood Trailer

When you have a film that is all about the fantastical action, it makes sense the the "blood trailer" for Underworld: Blood Wars would promote just that. You know, push up the amount of blood. There is definitely more action to be seen and, if my eyes don't deceive me, it looks like some of the effects work has been improved upon over the past couple of months.

I also find it amusing that not only does this installment feature a heavy Game of Thrones cast, but also takes our characters to a giant ice wall. "We must go North!" Coincidence? Probably, but I am amused by the er, six degrees of separation.

Another thing this latest preview does is suggest that maybe Selene (Kate Beckinsale) arrives late in the storyline (or running time). The previous trailers had the character mixed in as a way to celebrate the return of Beckinsale to the franchise. But this version feels more honest, suggesting that the plot gets underway before Selene makes a surprise appearance for the build up to the finale. Then again, I might be reading too much into it and she instead appears ten minutes in. But, if I were a betting man, I'd assume much later than that.
