Trailer for Unbroken.

Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie directs and produces Unbroken, an epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis “Louie” Zamperini (Jack O’Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII—only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. Adapted from Laura Hillenbrand’s (“Seabiscuit: An American Legend”) enormously popular book, Unbroken brings to the big screen Zamperini’s unbelievable and inspiring true story about the resilient power of the human spirit.

Unbroken marks Angelina Jolie's thrid time in the Director's seat. Her two previous works include In the Land of Blood and Honey & A Place in Time. Universal Pictures is hoping for a much better result as In the Land of Blood and Honey had a $10,000,000 budget and only made a measly $300,000 at the box office.

Hard to believe this film is based on the real life of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner who was taken prisoner by Japanese forces during World War II, and these are actual accounts of things that happened to him. Will be interesting what Angelina Jolie brings to the film. Based on the trailer, it looks like a great epic dramatic POW story which should try to generate Oscar buzz...but time will tell. It also help to have the Coen brothers on your side.
