When Tilman asks a prostitute, “Do you kiss?” he’s looking for love, not just sex. And occasionally, when the answer is “yes,” Tillman can imagine he’s found what he’s looking for. Director Julian Vogel follows this lonely man—part john, part hopeless romantic—through his daily routines and occasional brothel visits, capturing his interactions with Roxy the hooker, who just might be the real thing.
