Themba, a Xhosa youth living in a depressed South African community, dreams of becoming a soccer star. His goal seems farther away than ever when he discovers that his mother has been infected by HIV, and that he too may have contracted the virus as a result of a sexual assualt. However, he realizes that his talents on the soccer field might provide him with a means to help his family œ and after an astounding performance at the Eastern Cape Junior Championships, Themba discovers that sometimes dreams really can come true. Exploring themes of social justice and perseverance, this moving and inspirational drama based looks beyond the glamour of the playing field to demonstrate what real heroes are made of.
