A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realize the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.
This has obviously been a complete secret. Lionsgate previously released details of the movie with the title The Woods and just let the cat out of the bag that film in fact is the sequel to Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick’s indie smash hit The Blair Witch Project.
Blair Witch is directed by Adam Wingard, who helmed V/H/S and V/H/S/2 along with The Guest and You’re Next.
WOW, color me surprised! We knew that there was some secrecy behind the first The Woods teaser trailer, but we had no idea that they were hiding a new Blair Witch movie.
I can still remember to this day the first time I saw The Blair Witch Project. It was still up in the air whether or not if was actually a documentary of real life events. It jump started the hand held camera type of horror films and is still to this day one of the scariest films I have ever seen.
I am not a huge horror fan and I am not a die hard Paranormal Activity fan, but I think this film be different and bring a whole new level of scary.
